Kim Cattrall was offered a role in Coronation Street

Kim Cattrall was interviewed on ITV's Good Morning Britain today - and revealed she was offered a part in Coronation Street!

She said that Coronation Street offered her a part but she had to turn it down as she was too busy.  However, she also said that she hopes to be asked again!

Liverpool born Kim starred in Sex and The City as Samantha Jones and is back on our screens eight years later with a new show, a dark comedy called Sensitive Skin. Kim is Executive Producer on the show as well as acting in it. It tells the story of a middle-aged woman fighting the effects of ageing personally and on her career.

Britney Spears, Coronation Street fan

Something has either been lost in translation as Britney Spears arrived in London tonight, or Coronation Street has its newest celebrity fan:

Thankfully, all was made clear by Corrie star Charlie Condou on Twitter, who later posted: "she probably meant the Cory Monteith Glee special :-( "

If that's the case, Ms Spears should give Corrie a try anyway, especially after tonight's fantastic hour long special, don't you agree? The incident certainly got Twitter talking...

Video: Benedict Cumberbatch loves his Coronation Street

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch - known to may of his fans as Sherlock, waxes lyrical to the Montreal Gazette in Canada about his love of Coronation Street.  It's a bit of an old video as he praises Corrie's 50th anniversary live episode but it is still worth watching.

Benedict says: "Corrie, to me, means a cup of tea and a tin of biscuits,” and he goes on to talk about the opening theme music (he even imitates the trumpet!) and the slow, slow drifting smoke over the rooftops of Manchester. Just thinking about Manchester makes him broaden his vowels, he says.
