55 Years of Corrie in 55 Days - 2011

In 2010 when Coronation Street celebrated its 50th anniversary, our blogger Sunny Jim wrote some amazing blog posts entitled 50 Years of Corrie in 50 Days.

Every one of those 50 blog posts paid homage to every year of Coronation Street's history, outlining  events on and off the cobbles. Sunny Jim used Corrie reference books and online sources to create a wonderful resource for fans.

You can read them all here in this wonderful online book.

As Coronation Street this year will celebrate its 55th anniversary in December 2015, it's time to start updating our online book.  Today, we start with events from the cobbles from 2011 and will bring you 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 over the next few months.

55 Years of Corrie in 55 Days - 2011

 

Claire Peacock and her sons leave for France after she batters Tracy Barlow for calling her dead husband Ashley names. Audrey’s friend Claudia arrives. Tyrone develops a crush on Sally Webster. Graeme married Xin and both of them left the Street. Julie and Brian start dating. Gary suffers panic attacks after his ordeal in Afghanistan and suffers a break down with Izzy in her flat. Nick Tilsley gets Peter Barlow drinking again.

 

John Stape murders Colin Fishwick’s mum Joy.  He then imprisons the Hoyles and Chesney in the basement of the Hoyle’s house. Fiz is arrested for John’s fraud and he kidnaps Rosie Webster.

Speaking of Rosie, she moves into Eileen’s house and the queue for the bathroom gets long when she's in there doing her beauty routine: "It's cleanse, tone, vomit," says Sean.  Rosie needs a baby to take on a fashion shoot, she takes baby Jack but brings the wrong baby back home. Rosie’s agent Jeff chats up Sally and whisks her off to Paris for a holiday. 

Sally takes out an injunction against Kev preventing him access to his lottery winnings. There's a court hearing where the injunction's overturned – Kevin wins, Sally loses – but desperate to get his missus back Kevin gives Sally a cheque for the whole amount later, telling her he wants her back, loves her and always will.  Sally tells Kevin to stick his cheque and do one.

Frank Foster arrives at Underworld.  He tries to rape Maria who tries to warn Carla off him, but Carla doesn’t believe Maria and lets Frank invest in the factory. Carla’s mum dies and she kisses Frank.  The two of them get close and end up engaged but Frank rapes Carla. His mum ends up killing him.

Faye Windass arrives as foster child for Anna and Eddie Windass. Eddie leaves for Germany. With Eddie gone, Owen set his cap at Anna and she agrees to a night in the pub with him.

David married Kylie. It's fair to say that Gail and daughter-in-law Kylie didn’t get on that well. "She's a Tasmanian devil in a push-up bra!" snorts Gail when tensions grow. Little Max comes to live with the Platts.

Roy’s mum Sylvia arrived. She’s over the moon when she finds out she's won a cruise in the competition that she entered with Mary's slogan. She goes off cruising and returns with tales about a man she’s met, called Milton.

Katy's pregnant with Chesney’s baby and she gives birth in the manger at the nativity play at Bessie Street School.

Jim McDonald tries to rob a building society and gets locked up in the Big House.  Todd returns with new bloke Jools in tow.  Sean went to London to see son Dylan with Marcus.  Ken and Deirdre took up pottery throwing. Ken’s grandson James moves in to No. 1. Audrey had a fling with Marc the transvestite.

Nick’s Bistro opens. Gail tries and fails to get the bar manager's job and ends up as the cleaner instead. "I'll just go and give the gents a good bottoming," she tells Nick before scuttling off in her pinny. 

Steve and Tracy went to Blackpool and stayed overnight in a B&B.  Tracy ended up pregnant with twins but after she miscarried the babies, she lied and said Becky had thrown her down a flight of stairs.

Dennis Tanner returns to Rita’s life as a down and out. Eileen and Julie discover they're distantly related to Dennis Tanner when he reveals that his mum Elsie's maiden name was Grimshaw.  Eileen Grimshaw celebrated her 50th birthday and falls in love with the fireman who comes to rescue her when she gets her head stuck in the railings on the roof of Underworld.  
Sunita’s aunties arrive in time to see Dev propose to Sunita but she turns him down. Over at the Alahan's, Amber upsets everyone by staying out all night with Tommy Duckworth and revealing that she's been kicked out of Uni.  Dev's head's spinning trying to make sense of it all.

Stella Price’s name goes up above the door at the Rovers Return. She reveals herself as Leanne’s real mum.

Lloyd lets his girlfriend Cheryl’s mate Chris and his pretend brain tumour move into his flat. Tina dates Dr Carter and he takes her out to meet his posh mates. On the golf course with Lloyd, Dev discovers son Aadi is a naturally gifted golfer and goes all out to encourage the kid buying him a brand new set of golf clubs.

Tyrone's new girlfriend Kirsty reveals she's a cop. Kevin asks Ken for advice on changing baby Jack's surname from Dobbs to Webster. ill WeBbster returned after months away, declared his love for Aunty Pam and told everyone he was going to wed her then he fell down flat with a heart attack, ended up in intensive care.

Over at the Barlow's, it's Ken's 72nd birthday and Deirdre's present is a hand-made pottery gift where Ken can put his nuts. “They're peanut bowls!” she shrieks in delight.

Schmeichel the Great Dane went to the kennel in the sky. Ciaran and Michelle forge ahead with wedding plans until he gambled away their wedding funds. Lloyd left the Street to a 10-horn salute from the Streetcars cabs.

Owen and David's spat turned nasty when Owen woke up to find his fish pond filled in with soil and all his fish have disappeared. This cut to a brilliant scene of Kylie at the Platt's screaming in horror to David: "Why's our bath full of fish?"

Corrie Canada sneak previews for July 13 - 17

Without further ado here is a brief sneak preview of what you'll see on  next week's Corrie in Canada.

Leanne encounters a face from her past, and not in a good way.  Simon continues to be one angry boy. Julie confronts Dev and Brian.  Roy and Carla discover Cathy's secret and is determined to help. Callum pressures Kylie leading to a confrontation between Kylie and David. Sarah learns some hard truths. Bethany is desperate to stay put. Carla starts to dabble in gambling.

Bev returns with bad news for the Barlows, Deirdre has passed away. The news sends a wave of grief through the Street.

State of the Street - June

June on Coronation Street was fairly downbeat overall. There was the aftermath of Kal's death as it affected Alya in particular. Sophie and her family barely had a chance to catch their breath after Maddie's death when they had to deal with Jenny running off with Jack. Faye finally made Anna listen and gave baby Miley to her father and family to raise.

The cracks are starting to show in Simon, after a lifetime of losing people he loves. I fear he's going to make David Platt look like Father Christmas before Simon's even old enough to vote!

Michael has found out about G'Andy and has spent the month dealing with anger and grief, with Gail looking on from across the street in equal measures of hope and desperation.

Kylie's back and Callum's butt is about to be kicked. I hope. Dev's just a romantic fool, "fool" being the operative word. Again.

Who are the current Coronation Street icons?

After blogging about Liz McDonald's wardrobe, I thought to myself that Liz now ranks as a Coronation Street icon, to me anyway. This started me thinking about which other current characters I would name as belonging to that holiest of positions - the Corrie icon.

Here's my list to start with, I'd love to hear who you would choose for your own Corrie icon list.

The dictionary definition of icon I'm choosing here is a person or thing that is revered or idolized. Using that definition, my own list of current Corrie icons are:

Liz McDonald

Carla Connor

Sally Webster

Roy Cropper

 

Tracy Barlow

I'd also like to add Deirdre Barlow in my list of current Corrie icons too.


However, there are others which I admire greatly and would put under the title of the Corrie legend.

I'm using the dictionary definition of legend to mean a collection of stories about an admirable person and a person who is the center of such stories.

I'd therefore put in my list of legends, the following:

Rita Tanner

 

Ken Barlow 

Emily Bishop

Gail Rodwell


A special mention goes to Fiz Stape, who I feel could very well fill the Corrie classic Battleaxe role, in due course.

Conversation Street Podcast 155

Gemma and Michael's podcast for the episodes in Canada that aired (up to last night's Canadian Corrie) can be heard here.

This week in the podcast, Miley was nearly christened and later, Faye made a decision and let Jackson's parents take the baby. Nick is still juggling Carla and Erica but the week ends in tragedy for Erica. Alya is steeped in guilt. Fiz and Tyrone are starting to wonder what Cathy's real story is. Brian continues his campaign to win Julie and Mary has her eye on Dev. There's a round up of the first six months on Corrie as well as the usual news and feedback.

A Corrie Cobble for Sir Ian McKellan

Sir Ian McKellen, formerly Mel Hutchwright on Coronation Street circa 2005, has received a most unusual birthday present. He made an appearance last month on This Morning and was presented with the gift of a cobble from the old Corrie set, mounted and beribboned.

It was accompanied by a video greeting from Bill Roache who worked on the Mel Hutchwright story with most of the senior cast members at the time. You can see a video clip of the greeting and Mr. McKellen receiving his gift from host Eamonn Holmes here.

He was delighted with the gift and has a spot already picked out for it:

"I know exactly where this will go, alongside my portrait of Violet Carson who played Ena Sharples. Thank you very very much indeed."

Corrie Canada weekly awards for June 29- July 3

It's not the size award: It's the number of reps!

Musical ambiance: "If I Could Turn Back Time" while Brian moans about love hurting.


Imperial award: Roy's suggestion would make the baby's name Tiberius Tilsley.

Pants on fire award: Cathy appears to be lying about various appliances being broken. What else is she hiding?

Denial award: Everyone's referring to the Hodges as "The posh family". If you can't face what's happening, blame "them that's got money", that's what it sounds like to me.

 Fashion award: Billy looks awesome in his robes!

Sunday Comments July 5

Miley is being christened. It's lovely seeing Tim dote on that baby but Faye certainly doesn't dote on her. Faye points out how hypocritical it is considering they never go to church and she doesn't even believe in God. Anna skwawks that it's just what you do. But it shouldn't be, should it? Faye continues to show signs of not being interested at all in the baby. Off to the church. Looks like Craig and Izzy are the godparents. Leave it to Tim to read the lyrics of a country song for the christening but it does work, in praise of mothers, doesn't it? He's so emotional! It's a nice change! But it had no effect on Faye who ran out of the service.

She's just not taking to motherhood in the very least. Even after a few months of Miley being there, she's still not bonded with the baby and it doesn't seem like she's going to. Tim is a pretty good dad and I like how he's really come into his own on that score. He's firmly on Faye's side. The Jacksons have come up with an idea, that they should raise Miley. It would all be better for Faye as well. Tim doesn't really think it's a good idea, at first.

All Anna can do is shout and bully Faye when Faye really is struggling and just not mature enough for this and Anna can't admit it. Now Tim realizes it might not be such a bad idea, difficult as it is. Now, you know Anna won't have that. She's determined to fit a square peg into a round hole. Maybe, though, maybe they've both realized they haven't been listening to Faye.

Tim's pushing to get Anna to at least talk to the Hodges about giving Miley to them. Anna's insulted at them trying to give money but I can see where they're coming from. They want to contribute as well, and you could look on it as child support from the baby's father. And I wonder what Jackson really thinks of all this. Would he want the baby under his roof? He seems a bit more keen to be a dad so that's a good sign. He's got more interest than Faye.

Anna's finally come round and Faye thought it was the answer to her nightmare. She seems to feel a bit guilty but she'd probably feel worse if she kept the baby and resented her all her little life and I think she knows it. Faye's own mother wasn't interested in her, either, due to addiction. It's a bit different, in some ways, but the end result is the same, a child that's neglected and unwanted by her mother.

The day comes that they are giving Miley to the Hodges. Tim and Anna are really gutted. Everyone is referring to the Hodges as The Posh Family. It's as if they're all in denial and don't want to blame Faye directly and they reckon using the excuse that the Hodges have money and they don't as the reason the baby is leaving their immediate circle. I am worried, though, Izzy kept stirring things up. Is that going to change Faye's mind at the last minute?

Alya sure came down to earth with a crash after having sex with Jason and instantly had regrets. And I'm surprised the family didn't smell the beer on her the minute she walked in the house! The thing is, Gary really does know what dealing with grief is like though his experiences in the army were certainly different but he was also in a pretty bad place, too.

His solution? Ask her to marry him. Her answer? Ouch. That guilt is really oppressing her. He was asking for the wrong reasons or at least the timing was really wrong and it would have been wrong for her to say yes even if she hadn't just slept with Jason.

A few days later, though, Alya may be thawing towards Gary. Maybe. In spite of herself. It sounds like they are back together but she's still feeling mighty guilty about Jason. Can Jason manage to keep her from telling Gary? Michael was not thawing towards Andy. But Andy had a minor accident in the van and Michael was concerned. You can't just cut it off, can you? That's a good sign. Is Sarah starting to ask questions of Callum and his "business?" He's buying her designer handbags, to divert her, I think. It worked for the moment. Liz's new man, Dan is still around.

Brian has been rooting around in the closets and has found Ken's kimono which he's now helped himself to. That's very presumptuous isn't it? and Ew. Unless Ken left it out for him to find. It wasn't really very clear from the conversation. He's also ordering his breakfast and inviting guests around though he did say he'd do the cooking. Tracy is getting fed up with seeing Brian underfoot and I can't blame her. Brian cooked up a storm! Cassoulet and Coq au Vin! Amy wasn't very interested and Tracy showed up late and proceeded to be her usual self.

Michael came through the operation with flying colours. And one thing did come out of it, Kylie is seeing a counsellor and maybe David will support her a bit more, at least for the kids' sake. It's a start. She wants the family to come to family counciling. David agrees and Gail reluctantly agrees. Audrey and Nick are persuaded as well. Oh look! Michael is home from hospital already and Kylie wants him to come to the counciling too. Audrey reckons a chat over a bottle of wine would be just as helpful!

The last time we went through this, it turned into a free for all when Blanche went to Peter's AA meeting with Ken and Deirdre. It didn't go quite that badly but it was funny with Gail being presumed to be the addict because she was dressed in rags. Gail of all people thinks honesty is the best policy but Gail is making it all about her, not Kylie. The session lurches along and doesn't really get very far. Come on Kylie, stand up to Callum and don't back down.

Dev is showing off in the gym, working up a sweat and jumping straight off the treadmill to picking up some heavy weights that are clearly too much for him to show off for Talisa. Loved Zeedan showing him up, handing him baby weights instead! Never mind. Talisa wants to teach yoga-lates (yoga pilates). Julie is not happy to have Brian around but Dev is starting to suggest that Brian isn't a bad bloke.

Dev's next try at showing off is attending the yoga-lates class, which Julie went to as well and so did Brian and Julie was not best pleased. He certainly threw his all into it! Brian is determined to win back Julie and he's going to have to make an action plan. He joined the yogalates. He sent her a huge bouquet of flowers and brought champagne. He got a slap for his troubles. But he's determined. Yet, when he saw Julie with the twins, it seemed to draw him up.

Chesney did manage to give the thugs the slip. Because the lads didn't close the back of the van, though, they ended up with no Chesney *and* no tshirts, which, all packed in slippery plastic, had all slid out the back. The thugs knew where Luke lived? Mates do i suppose. They didn't realize that it was Luke et all that broke in and they did bring the (fake) tshirts at least). They insisted they were genuine but if the label was on upsidedown, as Steph said, then how could they be?

Chesney did make it home ok but he's the only one the tshirt guys got a look at so he ended up taking the blame and it all came out. Telly walking out the door, Fiz walking in and you don't mess with Fiz. Sorted. And she's kicked Luke out. He offered to sleep on the sofa. Where else would he have slept now she and the kids are back?

Fiz has met Cathy. She's been hanging around a lot but says it's because her fridge is broken. Fiz thinks it might be a romance in the offing and then Cathy was caught in that lie, she'd been buying ice cream and milk. Fiz is at least trying to make friends with this new friend in Roy's life and even thinks they should put together a team for the pub quiz night coming up. But then she catches Cathy washing up in the pub toilet and saying her boiler's broken. That and the fridge freezer, too? It's starting to be suspicious to Fiz and Tyrone. Then Roy nearly knocks her down and a slew of unpaid bills fall to the ground. She certainly backs off quickly when she's confronted.

Nick either didn't know when Erica's birthday was or he forgot and it's a milestone. I laughed at Roy's suggestion of the name Tiberius for a baby. Tiberious Tilsley. I suppose you could call him "Ty". Turns out Erica wasn't so keen on a surprise party, probably wasn't that keen on turning 50 and being pregnant either.Liz, her good mate, knew how Erica felt about her age but Nick didn't think to check. Party fail! And Gail's card didn't help matters. Erica ran for the hills and Carla was there to pick up the pieces with a drunken snog on the street!

It's pretty clear the pair of them are really falling for each other but there's still that Erica question. David's picking up the signals as it's getting obvious. It's odd seeing David and Nick acting like real brothers, isn't it? Erica started feeling some pains though, and that's not a good sign.

Mary takes the pub quiz quite seriously, doesn't she! Well she *is* very competitive, after all. Chesney did seem a rather odd choice to make up the team, though. Erica takes over as the quiz MC, Ken's writing the questions. You might all dread the quiz if you knew that but Deirdre has contributed lots of pop culture questions so it's ok! Erica made a pretty good MC but she then doubled over in pain. Oh dear.

Coronation Street on Google Maps

This really made me smile today! I was perusing Google Maps, as you do, when I spotted a label for Media City.

I zoomed in a bit and saw "ITV Coronation Street" so I zoomed in a bit more. This is what the detail looks like on Google maps, complete with building outlines and the little icons for shops and the pub.

The icons are not all in the right places, if you want to be pedantic about it and there's pieces missing or misplaced. (i.e. the Rovers Return is on the other end of that block of buildings, and the layout isn't exact). I think that's because when you look at the actual Google Earth view, the photo was taken when the site was under construction, and fairly early on so a lot of the buildings weren't in place yet.

I still got a kick out of seeing it with the Google icons and the street layout map just like it was a real neighbourhood!

I'll just get me coat.

Steph Britton - Coronation Street's hidden gem

Tisha Merry, who plays Steph Britton, is a little belter. There, I've said it.  Tisha as Steph has been on Coronation Street for just over two years now and she just keeps on getting better with every appearance.

We don't know that much about Steph. She arrived as a friend for Katy Armstrong, flirted with Ryan Connor, left and returned again later the same year. She was then given a job as a waitress at the Bistro and has been there ever since.

While Steph has been a part of some major storylines, she's never really had one of her own. She moved in with Tina and tried to make Tina see sense when Tina revealed she was having a fling with Peter Barlow.  When Tina died, instead of going to the funeral, Steph, Luke and Katy celebrated Tina's life by releasing balloons, a nice touch.  And since then, she's continued to serve in the Bistro while recently being caught up in the Platt family drama.

Nick's promoted Steph to Bistro supervisor, and that girl can stand her ground with the best of them. She's sassy, fun, intelligent, great to watch and is one of those characters, for me, who light up the screen when they come on.  Along with Gary Windass and Izzy Armstrong, Steph is one of the  younger generation that I really love watching.  She's not given any especially funny or fancy dialogue, she just puts a sparkle into everything she does.  She's a backstreet Bistro bobby-dazzler.

T is for Trouble

Just as the Grimshaw clan were finding out quite how awful their younger son was last night, I saw this tweet from @MellyPhil and it got me thinking about the number of baddies we've seen on Coronation Street over the years whose name starts with the letter 'T'. Is there any semblance of nominative determinism?

As Melanie points out, we've got Tracy Barlow, Todd Grimshaw and Tony Stewart currently at the top of the troublemakers list but if we look back there have been quite a few similar terrors in the past.

Topping the charts has to be the ever terrible Terry Duckworth. Selling his son to his dead wife's parents; selling his mother a death trap of a car which ultimately killed Judy Mallett; GBH; absconding from jail; breaking into the corner shop while drunk; running away with his friend's wife; and trying to open a lap dancing club on the Street. Just some of Terry's despicable deeds.

Tony Gordon wreaked havoc during his short time on the Street. Making Jed Stone homeless; killing his love rival Liam Connor; pushing Roy Cropper in the canal; and then finally shooting Robbie Stone and setting fire to the factory. All these and more won accolades for 'Bad Boy' and 'Villain of the Year' in various 2009 soap awards.

No list of Coronation Street baddies could be complete without Tanya Pooley. The bitter barmaid wrecked relationships and played terrible tricks on her co-worker Raquel Wolstenhulme, like setting her up on a fake modelling assignment. She eventually stole Bet Lynch's trucker boyfriend Charlie Whelan and left the Street.

Trevor Ogden got off to a bad start by burgling houses on the Street while the residents were holed-up in the Mission Hall because of an unexploded bomb. He ran off to London with the booty and was rarely seen again, only making occasional visits to see his doting mother Hilda and father Stan.

Other also-rans include: Theresa Morton who would never win mother of the year; Tina Shapiro who was Jez Quigley's girlfriend; and Tony Horrocks, who wasn't exactly bad but ended up owing money to drug dealers which ultimately brought about his death.

But let's look at he other side of the coin. Tyrone Dobbs, Tina McIntyre, Tim Metcalfe, Tommy Duckworth, Tommy Harris, and Toyah Battersby have been pretty well behaved over the years so I don't think that the letter 'T' bodes ill for a character but it was interesting finding out.

Will Faye throw the baby out with the bathwater?

Now, I'm not saying Faye should throw the baby out with the bathwater, not literally. But the suggestion has been brought up that the paternal grandparents take baby Miley and raise her themselves. Jackson's parents seem to be implying that Jackson also doesn't really care a lot and that they'd be doing all the work, much like Anna is in the Windass flat.

From the time she found out she was pregnant to this date, Faye really didn't want anything to do with the baby. She planned to have Craig leave the baby at the hospital doors anonymously so nobody would have to know she ever gave birth but it didn't work out that way (much to Craig's relief). Anna has been doing her best to support Faye and encourage her to bond with the baby but it's clearly been of no use. Anna's tired, stressed and angry and Faye is indifferent which only makes Anna more tired, stressed and angry. Something's got to give.

And give it did, at the christening and Tim realized that Faye really can't handle parenthood. He intially resisted the Hodges' suggestion that they take the baby but he sees Anna at the end of her tether and he knows how Faye feels. Tim would hate to give up the baby because he's besotted and isn't it a grand thing to see him so over the moon about little Miley? I love it! He would never let that baby go unless he was guaranteed to be a continuing part of her life.

This week, Anna will talk to the Hodges and Faye will be told what's going on. Anna is Faye's legal guarding but if Faye, as the baby's registered mother, wants to let the baby's father's family bring her up, I'm not sure Anna can stop it from happening. I'm really mystified why we haven't seen hide nor hair of Social Services since that one visit after the birth. They knew then that Faye was uncertain and you'd think they'd be following up. I hate when that sort of thing might be happening but it's in the background and we viewers know nothing about it. There's been no scenes, no references, nothing.

Never mind. I don't know at this date whether Faye will give the baby up or if she'll realize at the last minute that she does want the baby after all. I haven't seen any sign of it at all. There have been no secretive looks, no loving smiles when nobody's looking, and Faye has been resentful and impatient whenever she's had to be in charge of the baby for any reason. I really want this storyline to be different. I really want Faye to say to Anna, I do not want this child and I cannot care for her. Take her away.

I want Miley to be brought up by the Hodges. I do want Faye to see the baby, have visits and such and when she's older and more mature, she will grow to love the baby even if she's not the primary caregiver. That's ok. I don't want this to descend into a sentimental schmaltzy heart rending sobbing at the idea of giving the baby away and see Faye clutching the child out of Mama Hodge's arms with Anna looking triumphantly smug.

We'll know soon enough.

Corrie Canada sneak previews for July 6 - 10

Without further ado here is a brief sneak preview of what you'll see on  next week's Corrie in Canada.

Roy rides to Cathy's rescue. The thaw between Michael and Gail leads to a confession which leads to a confrontation. Dev is finding it more difficult to juggle two women but has he got the wrong end of the stick? Will he realize what he had before it's too late? Will Faye let Miley go? Dan the brewery man isn't showing himself in a positive light. Liz takes steps against Tony and Tracy's business.

Coronation Street tour to end December 31st 2015

Today, we have received confirmation that the Coronation Street tour at Quay Street, Manchester will come to an end on 31st December 2015.

The Tour, operated by Continuum Attractions, opened initially on 5th April 2014 for a six month period but due to public demand, extended planning was granted by Manchester City Council, allowing visitors to continue enjoying the unique experience over Christmas and throughout 2015.

Since opening, the attraction has welcomed over half a million visitors to the former site where Coronation Street was filmed before its move to MediaCityUK. Visitors can explore behind the scenes of the soundstage studio featuring the green room, dressing rooms, interior sets such as The Rovers Return, The Kabin and The Duckworth’s and the backlot set of Coronation Street’s famous cobbles.

Juliana Delaney, CEO of Continuum Attractions said: “We are incredibly proud of the unique experience we have been able to deliver for hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the world. This December we’ll be saying farewell to something extraordinarily special and are truly privileged in operating the attraction to have played a part in making this unique opportunity available for the public to enjoy.”

James Penfold, ITV Controller of Partnerships (Commerce & Ventures) added: “The tour at Quay Street was always for a limited time and the demand has exceeded all our expectations. However, all good things have to come to an end and the Coronation Street lot will be removed in early 2016 for the site to be returned to Allied London for future development.”

Coronation Street’s new home is at MediaCityUK and the Tour at Quay Street was always for a limited time. Consequently, Decemberwill now see in the final visitors tothe attraction,after which, the site will be handed back to its new owners, Allied London making way for the redevelopment of the site.
