How brilliant is this? A Virgin Airways Airbus A320 has been named Queen of the Cobbles - by a Coronation Street fan.
Ruth Crawshaw is the fan who named the plane in a competition run by the Manchester Evening News. Ruth is pictured above with Katherine Kelly, who played Becky McDonald in Corrie.
Corrie fan Ruth watched the plane’s inaugural flight and said: “It’s made my year. I’m a big fan of Corrie and I can’t believe I was also given the opportunity to meet Katherine too. The cobbles in Manchester are one of the most iconic things here and I wanted to tie it in with Virgin Atlantic.”
Katherine Kelly said: “Corrie is such a vital part of Manchester tradition and it’s only right that the plane should be named after the many iconic feisty women who have captivated audiences in their time on the Street. “It’s an honour to be one of those many ‘Queens of the Cobbles’ and very fitting as viewers last saw Becky leaving ‘the cobbles’ on a Virgin.
