Off we go for another week of Sunday comments. Don't forget to check the Bluenose Corrie Blog tomorrow for Lines of the week and weekly awards!
She's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!! Cruella Barlow gets to go to the funeral and it all kicks off. She doesn't want Becky to be a better mom than her. Mind you, even Cilla Brown was a better mother than Tracy and that's saying something. Her screaming and hollering with little Amy right there just says it all about what kind of mother she is. It's all out of jealousy because Amy preferred Becky instead of her. Well she's got her own self to blame there. I did chuckle when Tracy was calling Becky a "smack head" considering the reason Tracy's in prison. Tracy isn't going to take this lying down though. She's got a plan and i don't know how she managed it but she's got herself installed as Gail's new roomie and i don't know what the purpose of it is (well i do, but some of you don't yet). In reality, a convicted felon would never be put with someone that's not even been to trial yet but there you go. It's one of those artistic license things.
You might know Blanche would make very definite requests for her funeral. She'd been to so many of them, many just as a hobby, that she'd know what she wanted and what she didn't. Laughed at the line about insisting on being buried, not cremated because she's not a Viking! Nice to see Ken expressing some emotion, too. He doesn't usually and it's always been obvious that he was fonder of Blanche that he'd let on. Or maybe, like the song says, he just became accustomed to her face!
What a lovely sendoff it was too, with everyone on the street coming out to pay respects to the hearse and really, it was a tribute to Maggy as well. It's always hard to watch a funeral, you always think of the ones you love that have gone but it's harder still to watch one when you know the actor themself has died as well. Deirdre's eulogy was very Blanche as was Ken's in the pub and i don't mind saying i shed a few tears even though i'd seen it last year as well when it was on in the UK.
The new Amy has already spoken more lines in one week, and with enthusiasm, than the old one! Nice to see Archie again, wasn't it? The cafe closed out of respect? Um nobody to work there. Even Tracy's guard had more tears than Tracy did!
Becky figured dressing dowdy like Claire would give her the edge. Really, though, they just want you to be yourself and, well, behave yourself i suppose. Of course it all went pear shaped from the start when Amy mouthed off at Dawn, the Social worker. Poor kiddie though, can't blame her, she just found out about Blanche! Still, at least Dawn got to see the softer side of Becky.
Eddie tried his best triple chocolate cheesecake for the social worker but alas, she was diabetic! She looked like a right old Iron Maiden, too, didn't she? With all this we get to hear a bit more of Becky's background and as much as they do have a lot to offer, I can't think that it's realistic for them to expect to be approved. I wouldn't expect Anna and Eddie to be either but they might be good as foster parents.
Every single person on Corrie that's ever wrote a eulogy always has trouble and gets help from someone else. They tell the other person what the deceased means to them and are then told, that's your speech. Deirdre was nearly the same though Ken did start her off.
Kirk tried again with Izzy but that didn't go well either. She's a bit bossy, isn't she? But then he goes for women like that. Fiz was the same though slightly less forceful.
Oh wow, Sean actually mentioned his son! Well why would Steve and Becky be sensitive to his needs when he's not mentioned little Dylan since Violet and Jamie left! And wow, it took an instant to find the right "Violet Wilson" on Facebook (or whatever they're calling it in Corrie to get round the copyright thing). You can imagine how many there are and bingo, the right one pops up that quickly? Not in real life, mate! I'm not always so sure it's a good idea for Sean to push to find his son and get in touch. Violet was so adamant that he not be a part of the boy's life that it could all end in tears. Let's cross our bits.
Can't blame Norris for being afraid of Mary and she's got more front than Blackpool for showing up acting as if nothing was wrong. She knew he accused her of kidnapping him, and though nobody else really believes it, we do know the truth. It might not have been kidnapping but she did make a concerted effort to keep him there when he specifically expressed a wish to leave.
