Best known Street in the land - Coronation Street
(This post was originally posted on the Coronation Street Blog June 2012, reposted to this blog with permission.)
Following on from the gem of the song I found yesterday, here's another one dedicated to Coronation Street. This song is sung by New Zealander Rex Franklin who was born in 1935. From the characters mentioned, I think the song was released in 1968. In the song, he mentions: Ena Sharples, Len Fairclough, Jerry Booth, Minnie Caldwell, Jack and Annie Walker, Stan and Hilda Ogden, Elsie and Dennis Tanner, Albert Tatlock, Emily Nugent, Ken and Valerie Barlow, David and Irma Barlow, Lucille Hewitt and Les, Maggie and Gordon Clegg. 1968 is the only year these characters can possibly appear together. Again, I'd never heard this. Here's a synopsis of Franklin's career over the last 50 years. Does anyone have any trivia about the song or the singer himself? Maybe Corrie fans from New Zealand and Australia can help us out? It'd be much appreciated! And again, it is the same person who has posted the video on YouTube: Cymrobach1 (Little Welshman 1!).
