Top 5 marriage proposals by Coronation Street women

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog February 2016, reposted to this blog with permission.)

As it's a leap year this year and we've got an extra day on Monday February 29th, what better way to honour the tradition and have a look at some Corrie proposals that women made to their men.

These are my favourite top 5 proposals of marriage from Corrie women to their fellas.  Did I miss out your favourite? Leave a comment below!

In no particular order...

1. Fiz asks John Stape

What could be more romantic than scrawling 'marry me' onto a stained bed sheet and shouting it at your fella in prison as he's banged up for being a serial killer?

2. Michelle Connor asks Steve McDonald

Karaoke night in the Rovers Return, Michelle gets down on bended knee.

3. Phyllis Pearce asks Percy Sugden

Despite the many attractions of Phyllis Pearce, Percy would never give her the answer she longed for when she asked him to marry her.

4. Carla Connor asks Nick Tilsley

5. Deirdre Barlow asks Samir Rachid

It wasn't the the most romantic proposal. Deirdre offered to marry Samir while he was doing the washing up, wearing rubber gloves.

6. Sally asks Tim

Yes I know this is number 6 of a top 5. Whoops. But it had to go in, right?

Can you think of any more female proposals on Coronation Street?

Corrie Canada weekly awards for Feb 22 - 26

The EveryWoman! "Been there. Done that" A tshirt slogan for Tim and Kevin. Priceless!

Health and Safety award: Maybe Izzy can un-dislocate her hip but surely, to cover workplace insurance, an ambulance should be called to check her over anyway? Or at least, a visit to the doctor.

Medical fail: Why didn't Beth go to the doctor for a shot or take some allergy pills? She'd have suffered a lot less. Is it really wise for Izzy to be drinking wine and taking heavy pain killers?

Arrest fail: I'm surprised they sent two police officers and nobody from Social Services (or Child Protection Services, whatever they're called this week) to question Simon. More shocked that they man-handled a child into the car. And neither was the Social involved in the interview. He might have had his grandfather there, but shouldn't Social Services have been involved as well? It was all very ham-fisted and poorly handled, I think.

Salon fail (are we spotting a pattern here?): No patch test before trying a different dye. 1. David didn't realize he was using a different dye that Beth's normal. 2. A patch test wouldn't have revealed the allergy which didn't show up for hours after.

Fashion accessory award: Beth's blingy hair bow

Continutity fail. I'm sure on Friday's episode Tracy mentioned that she and Robert were staying overnight at the hotel where the wedding fair was, but Robert then called up the hotel on Monday booking a surprise night in a posh suite for them. Don't tell my girlfriend! Huh?

Not the brightest button award: Tim would have been more successful at hiding and avoiding Sally's photo shoot if he hadn't tried hiding behind a newspaper in the local cafe.

Lines of the week:
Beth "Don't look at me, I'm a monster!"
Robert about Beth "She's all mouth and no trousers, that one" (Phrase of Doom alert!)
Sally "People want bold thinking, Tim!"
Anna to Sally "Voting for you is like turkeys voting for Christmas"
Izzy "I'm fine, thanks" Erica "When you're bored of putting a brave face on it, let me know"
Todd "I just don't do 'sincere' very well" (heh)
Kylie to Beth "Get back under a bridge, ya troll"
Tim about Sally "She cares about you even when she's nagging you in a high pitched voice"
Sally about men and gifts "Hints don't work, not unless you write it on a bit of paper and nail it to their leg"

Kym Marsh on Corrie, Hear'Say and snogging Keith Duffy

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog February 2016, reposted to this blog with permission.)

Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor on Coronation Street, has been interviewed on Ireland's The Late Late Show.
She talked about making the move from being in Hear'Say, the pop group to being an actress in our favourite show, and how difficult it was for people to take her seriously as an actor.

She says: "So it was kind of hard for me. But they took a chance on me and I'm so glad they did because it gave me the opportunity to show what I can do. And you're not in a show for ten years if you're no good."

There's a good laugh when she says how much she likes working with Bill Roache (Ken Barlow). She jokes that when she films with Bill, she says to him 'Ooh maybe they'll put Ken and Michelle together!"   Asked if she'd like that, she quickly said "No!"

She also talked about kissing Keith Duffy (Ciaran McCarthy) on-screen after she fancied him when he was in his boy band.

It's a good interview and Michelle comes over very well. She looks lovely too. Unfortunately the online video doesn't work from Canada but if you are in the UK or IReland, You can watch the video here.

Sunday Comments February 28

Zeedan was right, none of the coaches or the ref saw what happened but did Simon hurt the other boy on purpose? He says he did but he also said it was an accident and then bashed Ken's car in a rage when Leanne took away the meal out treat. Poor Leanne is at the end of her rope and she believes his admission to Zeedan and has to make a tough decision. She reported him to the police and told them the whole story leading up to the injury to his mate, her heart breaking.

Simon must have figured something was up, at the very least that he'd gone too far because he was sucking up big time the next day. She didn't get the chance to tell him and then it was too late, the police showed up to take him in to talk to him, with Ken by his side. No solicitor, just his old grandad and during the interview, they ended up causing him to lose his temper. Case proven. Now I suppose we're going to get weeks of him hissing insults at Leanne again. There's a turn up for the books, though, someone had some video on their phone that proves Simon didn't do it on purpose. *Sigh* Anyway. The video exonerated Simon and Leanne retracted her statement but Simon is still pretty pissed at her for calling the cops on him. Maybe this will be the wakeup call, though. I certainly hope so.

I'm quite surprised they only sent two officers and nobody from social services and even more surprised they man-handled the kid into the car instead of calling in social services. It was very heavy handed and ham-fisted to say the least. In any case, I really hope this is the end of the storyline, Simon continuing to work with a councellor. It was ok, but i'm done with it, me.

Izzy's in pain on the floor. Nobody calls an ambulance. What? Isn't there a workplace safety rule in the factory? Izzy decides she can pop a dislocated hip back in on her own. What??? Perhaps with her condition, her bones are soft enough? Sean seemed to think this has happened before but I think I'd still be calling an ambulance to cover the workplace insurance issue at the very least. Anyway, Izzy was in pain after that, every day. I would think with her condition it probably takes longer to recover from any injury let alone a dislocation. Anyway, it was her suggestion that cannabis could help but she didn't want to do that. Eventually, coping with the pain was too much and she agreed to let Erica contact her friend that could supply some. The next day, Izzy has done her hair up and seems quite chipper. The dope must have worked.

Eva managed to stop Aidan from calling the police after Jenny finds evidence that someone was hiding out. She did tell Aidan everything after that. Now Eva's trying to find Marta, calling around various homeless shelters, worried because the girl has no money (though she does now have a nice, new, warm coat at least).

Kevin is continuing to patronize Anna and believing Phelan over her accusations. Trouble is, nobody but the Windasses know what kind of scum he is. So where's Gary to chime in on this? He's watching his mother suffer but he's not adding his opinion and it probably wouldn't hold any weight with Kevin anyway. And what business is it of Eileen's to be sticking her nose in? Tim tried to talk to Kevin but as he doesn't know the whole truth, and neither does Tim, it's not really doing any good. It could very well come between Anna and Kevin if it continues.

She promises to settle down and he believes it. But you know Phelan is a very sore spot with her and he knows how to push that spot. In the meantime, they went to the Bistro and ended up double dating with Tim and Sally. That's fine for Tim and Kevin but it was agony for Anna to listen to Sally wittering on. Anyway, she was superbly funny, absolutely a gem! Everywoman, Been there, done that! Priceless! Then, you can always tell when Anna has one drink too many. She gets gobby and doesn't hold back! She certainly told Sally a thing or two.

The newest thing is Eileen complaining about her kitchen cupboards and Jason not having any time to fix them so Phelan acts the big man, gets hold of some old stock a company is getting rid of, and offers to fix the cupboards so that Jason can earn some brownie points. I'm not sure how he thinks the doors are going to be a perfect fit when it doesn't seem like he did any measurements at all, unless Jason let him go in the house while Eileen was working and we didn't see it. Michael, by the way, is apparently useless at DIY.

Remember last week when David was doing Beth's hair and she questioned the hair dye? Well guess what? She's come over in a rash and blames the Bistro food but after all her shouting and threats, it did turn out to be an allergic reaction to the dye, something David suspected. But by the time Audrey figured it out, David admitted it and she backed down, Health and Safety showed up. I am trying to figure out why she didn't go to the doctor for an epinephrine (sp) shot for the allergy, food or hair product being the cause, it wouldn't matter. Even so, Audrey berated David for not doing a patch test. But Beth's rash showed up hours later so a patch test wouldn't have picked that up.

Todd doesn't believe for a minute that Tracy's forgotten all about Carla and Robert's indiscretion. It's also a bit odd that Robert has put Tracy off the sub-duvet shenanigans a couple of times lately. What's that all about? Anyway, he's overheard Michelle planning to invite Carla to a wedding fair at a 5 star hotel on Monday. Turns out that Tracy is going to the fayre, too, and she and Robert are staying overnight. Why did Todd stir things up by suggesting Carla and Robert were doing something behind Tracy's back? If he heard that Carla was going, he must have heard that Michelle was going to invite her, it wasn't a pre-existing attendance on Carla's part. He said it was just to annoy Tracy but it had the required result.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I just say that Tracy, in the last episode, said that she and Robert were going to stay overnight after the Wedding Fair? (see above) That's what I remember. But on the day of the wedding fair, Robert's on the phone to the hotel making plans to book a posh suite and asking them to keep it a secret from his wife who is booked in as a vendor at the fair. Tracy's radar is in high gear and she sees tryst behind every corner. She's not pleased when Michelle and Carla appear. She manages to keep Robert by her side for awhile but he eventually escapes to bring in the luggage and then catch up with a friend who is the chef at the hotel. A female friend. Carla leaves the fair a few minutes later, her pain getting bad. She wants a pill and a lie down but Tracy follows her to the room, snatches the painkillers and finally reveals that she knows about Robert and Carla's fling. She's expecting Robert to show up at the hotel room no matter how many times Carla says they're not having an affair.

Sally is talking about an all night bus service. It's actually a good idea and from what I know (without looking it up, so I might be wrong) Manchester doesn't have one surprisingly enough. She even shelled out for some fancy posters that make her look like a Grande Dame! Now she has to decide between Norris and Mary to manage her campaign since Ken bowed out. Thing is, Mary probably would be better in that she has more time than Norris but Norris won the job in the end. He's a business owner, so it looks better and Sally doesn't want to be seen linked to scandal (re: Mary's fling with a married man).

The next big move is to organize a photo shoot at home. Tim tried to hide and get out of it. He'd have been a lot more successful if he'd not tried to hide behind a newspaper in the local cafe. In any case, the photo shoot was hilarious, with Sally setting up all sorts of fake scenes and Tim complaining through it all. Sally's storyline was the only salvation this week. I was gritting my teeth over a lot of it.

Todd is still struggling to to learn his flowers and create arrangements and trying to look sincere which is more of a problem thant he arrangements! Audrey has persuaded Ken to confide in her about Simon! Michelle has a long sob story about Steve forgetting to send her anything for Valentine's day, though did call to apologize. She then tells Nick that Steve was off to a party while she had to work. Are we leading up to something, here? Johnny and Jenny had a drink together, commiserating in their mutual bad day. Chances are, the power that be are going to put them together romantically and you know? It might not be such a bad thing. They might suit quite well. Caz is back for a visit. Sounds like Kate isn't all that forthcoming with all the gossip though she's filled it all in now and introduced Sophie to Caz. Both of them gave each other the assessing one-over, did you notice?

New Street producer discusses Corrie cast culls and cameos

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog February 2016, reposted to this blog with permission.)

The new Coronation Street producer, Kate Oates, will be taking over at the helm of our favourite show later this spring.

Shas given a statement to The Daily Star.  In it, she dismisses tabloid rumours of cast culls and talks about celebrity cameos too.

Kate Oates tells The Star about celebrity Corrie cameos including those last year from Sarah Harding.

“I think the decisions to do cameo roles were based on storylines at the time. It paid off in that there was some press interest, which is always great. It can work sometimes and sometimes it does not. I didn’t do it on Emmerdale. What I liked to do was bring in unknown talent, my own cast. If you look at somebody like Michael Parr, who plays Ross Barton, he was an unknown when we brought him into Emmerdale and that’s really rewarding.”

When it was announced Kate Oates was moving from Emmerdale to Corrie, reports claimed she was set to kill off major characters.

But she says: “When I read that I laughed. I think the show has a great cast. I know a lot of them already and nobody has cause to be afraid. It’s going to be fine. There is always pressure in a role like this. Whatever show you do, you have to make sure people know they can trust you and you’re open to their thoughts and input. It’s important everyone knows their input is important. One of the challenges of this job is you have to be creative to order and work at a pace.”

Conversation Street Podcast 186

Gemma and Michael's podcast for the episodes in Canada that aired (up to last night's Canadian Corrie) can be heard here.

It was a week of ups and downs on Coronation Street this week. Simon Barlow had a very bad week, losing his temper and accidentally injuring a mate at the football game, lying that he did it on purpose and ended up being questioned by the police for it. Poor Leanne's at the end of her tether. Beth has spent the week with a rash all over her face. Izzy's been in pain and contemplating illegal means for pain management. The only real highlight was the HMS Sally Metcalf and her political campaign lightening up the screen! There are listener questions to answer and some news and feedback to round things up.

Coronation Street's Top 10 baddies

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog February 2016, reposted to this blog with permission.)

With the return of Pat Phelan to Coronation Street, let's have a look back at some of the best baddies to have walked the cobbles.
1. Joe Donelli. In 1968 American GI Joe murdered Elsie Tanner's second husband Steve. He later held Irma Barlow and Minnie Caldwell hostage before killing himself.

2. Alan Bradley.  Stole Rita's house deeds, impersonated her dead husband Len and tried to suffocate Rita when she found out.  He was killed by a Blackpool tram in one of Corrie's most iconic scenes.

3. Terry Duckworth.  Sold his son Tommy and did a runner with the money paid to him to donate a kidney to son Paul. An all-round nasty piece who broke his mam and dad's heart, over and over again.
4. Jon Lindsay. The fake airline pilot who pretended to fall for Deirdre and she ended up in prison because of his fraud.

5 Jez Quigley. My favourite Corrie baddie, ever. Drug dealer behind the death of Tony Horrocks and manslaughter of Des Barnes.  Died while attempting to kill Steve McDonald in 2000.  Altogether, everyone... "Steven James McDonald... come on down!"  Camp as Christmas.  Watch the scene below.

6. Richard Hillman.
Such a good baddie I even wrote a book about him!  Norman Bates with a Briefcase. Left Duggie Ferguson for dead, killed his ex-wife Patricia, murdered Maxine Peacock and tried to kill Emily Bishop twice.  Kidnapped the Platts and drove them into the canal. They survived and he died.
7. Charlie Stubbs.  Abused Shelley Unwin. General nasty piece of work who took up with the wrong 'un when he started dating Tracy Barlow. She killed him with an ornament.

8. Tony Gordon.  Murdered Liam Connor after he found out Liam and Carla were having an affair while Carla was married to Tony.  Escaped from prison, set fire to Underworld and died in the blaze Worse still, he pushed Roy Cropper into the canal.

9. Frank Foster.  Raped Carla when she called off their engagement. Such a nasty baddie that his own mother killed him.

10. Pat Phelan.  Creepy and slimy and great fun to watch.

Yay or Nay, Should Leanne have reported Simon to the police?

On the surface of it, Simon admitted to Zeedan that he intended on hurting his friend, Kylie, and was glad of it. Kyle certainly had been winding Simon up throughout the game and Simon, in a bad mood already because he saw Leanne fliring with the team manager, lost control. We didn't see the incident and the referees and managers were bickering, taking the attention of the parents and friends watching, so they didn't see it either. Simon changed his story and insisted he didn't mean it after all but Leanne, after the year she's had dealing with Simon, reached the end of her tether and went to the police to report this and all the other incidents.

Do you think that was the right decision?

In my mind, it was the right thing to do and what *should* happen now is the police, Social Services and Simon's counsellor need to work with Simon to help him. Counselling is one important part but maybe there are additional resources that can help.

Corrie Canada Sneak Previews for Feb. 29 - March 4

Without further ado here is a brief sneak preview of what you'll see on  next week's Corrie in Canada.

Tracy drags the truth out of Carla and then blackmails her with the threat of exposure. The price she asks could be a fresh start for Carla if she can talk Nick round.  Anna thinks she's finally rid of Phelan but Phelan has other plans that include Jason and maybe even Eileen.  Anna loses control but later, Phelan makes a mistake. Simon refuses to forgive Leanne. Sinead wows the catwalk but Chesney's jealous. Sally makes an investment but Tim's not happy about it. A university friend of Alya's is on the scene. Sally's political stand changes with the wind.

For more detail and photos check out the Moosejaw Mercury at Corrie.net.

The Revenants On The Street

(This post was originally posted by Rachel Stevenson on the Coronation Street Blog in January 2016.)

With the news that Richie O'Driscoll will be back in a new storyline, I thought I'd write a blogpost about recurring actors. When Richie turned up at the climax of the rather ridiculous ping pong tournament story, I thought: Hang on, we've seen him before - didn't he investigate Liam Connor's death way back when? A post on this very site confirmed my suspicions. You're bang to rights, James Midgeley! Despite “Richie” having three different names, it is conceivable that he would be the police officer on three different cases, but it's a bit weird that he would be an underwear buyer as well.

Thinking about whether Tony Gordon killed Liam Connor

Thinking very seriously about table tennis
The practical reasons for this are obvious: if a previously cast actor is available, then there's no need for auditions. However, re-using the same actor in a different role takes away from Corrie's reality - the reality that the set designer, writers, actors, directors and producer strive so hard to create. In the same way that we love the continuity points (Bistro customers are still eating those olives that Gail (Lewis) over-ordered) and decry it when the soap is inconsistent (the writers forgetting that Kevin had a child who died), we love it when actors return to play the same character – Jenny Reece, the curly haired registrar, who must surely groan when she sees the address of the bride and groom, knowing that she won't get an early lunch, or the sardonic, bald desk sergeant at Weatherfield police station, or the undergarments buyer in a wheelchair who likes to flirt with Carla at their Bistro business meetings. It would be rather odd if Jenny rocked up as (e.g.) new character Ava Baraclough, Trainee Assistant Manager at Freshco's, for example. What makes it fine for one guest actor to be the same character but others to play several?

"I bet £10 the bride doesn't turn up."

It works well sometimes: Alison King played a bored housewife who seduced the young(er) Jason before she strutted onto the cobbles as Carla C. Joe Duttine (Tim) was a police officer before Fay(e) found him on the internet. The current Robert Preston was Leanne's drug counsellor back in 2000, and Antony Cotton's first appearance was as a nurse at a staff party, at which Gail's ex, and current cheesemonger, Martin and Katy (not dancing Katie or current Connor Kate - the previous Katy, who killed her dad, then died, then married Tyone in real life) snogged. When he turned up the following year as fully formed character Sean Tully, his stint in the NHS was never mentioned and he didn't even say hello to his pal Martin, before the latter left for Liverpool, never to return, even when his granddaughter was born. And of course, there's Dave Dutton, the man of a million parts.
Photo from radiotimes.com
The worst re-use of an actor was Colin Fishwick. Although I loved the character, actor and storyline, David Crellin was immediately recognisable as Steve's former girlfriend Ronnie Clayton's gangster husband, Jimmy, and was, to my mind, dead. Perhaps John Stape knew that when he took Colin's identity; Colin had one to spare.

Colin Fishwick, or is it Jimmy Clayton?

Perhaps I'm being overly fussy. After all, we believe it when a character moves from Emmerdale to Corrie or when an ex-reality pop star turn up. We understand when Nicky Tilsley returns three inches taller and seven years older. I wonder how beloved a character has to be before they can be replaced with another actor? It's unlikely that Emily will return from Peru looking like, e.g., Patricia Routledge. But would they replace Chris Gascoyne, given that Peter's already been played by a few different actors? What about, say, Kylie Platt, Luke Britton, or former characters Graham Proctor or Andy MacDonald? Could they come back, played by someone else? Who do you think is too iconic to return with a different head?

Jane Danson admits doubts over violent Simon storyline

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog February 2016, reposted to this blog with permission.)

Jane Danson, who plays Corrie's Leanne, was interviewed on ITV's This Morning this morning.  She talked about the storyline involving Simon being violent to Leanne.

Interestingly, Jane admitted that she felt that the violent Simon storyline didn't ring true for her when she first found out about it.

She says: "When it was pitched I wasn't really sure if I bought it because I thought Leanne Battersby's quite tough and she's always been a bit gobby and would she really take this from a teenager?  But then going into the storyline more you realise that he's never had support, his dad's always dipped in and out of his life and maybe they're the reason why he's turned out the way he has."

Jane says she's very proud of Alex Bain, who plays Simon. And she says that having such a bad temper on screen as Simon goes against what Alex is really like in real life as he's so nice.

You can watch her video interview here.

Connor McIntyre is Phelan glad all over

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog February 2016, reposted to this blog with permission.)

There's a good interview with Connor McIntyre, who plays Pat Phelan, in next week's TV Times magazine.

Connor reveals that he was only supposed to be in Corrie for three short scenes as slimy Pat Phelan, but he's been called back by popular demand.

On Phelan's return, Connor says: "This man thinks he's a cat in a world of mice. He's back now, broke and with no prospects.  He wants to get back on his perch and is thinking about how he can ingratiate himself with the people who will be useful to him.  It won't just be Anna this time - he'll be spreading the love around..."

Connor left school in Toxteth, Liverpool with no qualifications. He worked as a lifeguard, boxing coach and car salesman but says it was boredom that led him to the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth (where he lives) to find out what the inside of a theatre looked like!

He says: "I asked if I could watch the actors rehearse and I was thrilled by what was happening in that dark space. I thought 'I'm going to get involved in this!'. I did anything I could to be a part of it."

Connor McIntyre, artist
In 2003 Connor had a heart attack and he took a rest from acting, ending up doing a masters degree in fine art.  He has sold and shown his work and has an exhibition at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth in April.

Corrie Canada weekly awards for Feb. 15 - 19

Harassment award: Jenny has an unfortunate past but she's not a thief and there's no evidence. Yet Sally spearheaded a campaign of bullying all week, made worse by the incident with Jack which also wasn't Jenny's doing as proven. Can't blame Jenny for finally getting her back up and warning Sally off.

Entertainment WOW: Eva!!

Rude Boy award: Aidan actually had Eva pump the gas into the van??? In that dress? His excuse? He wanted to call his father again. Which he did continually until the hostess called him on his bad manners at a dinner party.

Rude Boy II: Richie O'Driscoll isn't much better. What right does he have to demand personal differences stay out of the factory, the factory that he doesn't own. If his orders aren't affected, it's none of his business.

Continuity questionable: I refuse to believe that Eva, stylish as she is, didn't know what a pashmina was.

Musical ambience: Aww, Sean played I Will Survive just for Mary! What a wonderful, supportive thing to do and she lapped it up!

Bluff Award: Aidan wasted no time calling Sally's bluff. Fire Jenny or I'll resign? See ya!

Campaign fail: Tim wants to be supportive of Sally but I think he'd be happier standing behind her on the podium smiling than doing any actual campaign work!

That's Not Helping award: Leanne's idea of helping Simon with his homework is to do it for him.

Unfathomable award: How could Kirk have heard a rustling from the part of the factory he was in (wide open door) when Marta was behind a closed door at the other end?

Lines of the week:
Sally "You're no Mother Theresa, Rita, you work in a sweet shop"
Carla "Johnny, I'm not a pork pie and pickled onion kind of girl" (but she does like a bag of chips now and then) "Would you like a pashmina?" Eva "Oh yeah, yeah, I'll drink anything" Aidan "Make that two. No ice"
Eileen to Jason "It's a metaphor, ya plank. Read a book!" Jason "You first!" (Bazinga!)
Fiz "We're tightening our belts, Prosecco Boy, remember?" Tyrone "If I tighten it any more might rupture me spleen"
Carla to Johnny "If I'd wanted someone to fight my battles for me, I'd have picked someone bigger and scarier than you!"
Tim "You should get one of those candy necklaces" (re a steady sugar fix) Sally "Oh that's all I need, surgary spit in me decolletage"
Sally "I feel like I've been waiting for this all my life, it's like a Call to Arms"
Jenny about Sally "She's like a fly buzzing round me head. You know what happens to flies? They get swatted!" (Yay, Jenny's starting to find her spirit again, which may or may not be a good thing, at least for Sally)
Leanne about Aidan "He is totally smitten" Eva "Yeah, about piggin' time!"
Tim "My brain's like a finely tuned machine. Possible a bacon slicer"
Mary to her friends "Amongst you all the corpses of dead relationships must lie 10 deep. And I know you feel my pain" Erica "Well she's not wrong"
Erica "If all men were off the menu, it would be a very bland diet"
Simon "Who brings their granddad to their football match?" (er, quite a few kids, I should think, ya muppet)
Aidan "Since when do mice read newspapers?" Kirk "Have you never heard of Tom and Jerry?" (snort)
