Sunday Comments September 24

You know Phelan has to be completely psychotic to be able to put on a front and celebrate with his family knowing he's left someone to die alone in the dark. Very creepy. Talk of grief and all that, with Billy and Nicola, seemed to strike a chord with Phelan. He faked an infection in his tooth to get antibiotics for Andy and didn't let the doctor prescribe penicillin after all. When he gets back, Andy is unconscious again but still alive. Phelan acts like Andy's his nearest and dearest. That man is really a psychiatrist's dream, isn't he? Back home he hears Nicola saying nice things about him and comparing herself favourably to her newly discovered dad. It hit him hard enough to bring tears.

Phelan did have a point by reminding Liz of patient confidentiality. She probably shouldn't have asked him about the antibiotics in such a public place. And she definitely shouldn't have discussed it with Eileen, friend or not. Now she's suspicious and add to that his being more moody than usual and she's worried he's ill. She broached the subject with Nicola, too. And two curious women are not about to back down until they find out the truth. Meanwhile, he went back to see Andy but he's not about to let him go, not yet. Nicola knows where the house is so they go off to see if he's there.

So Eileen rocks up to the house while Phelan is moving Andy's chains. Why didn't Andy scream out when Eileen called into the house? First he thought she knew he was there and then he panicked. How could you panic and not say anything after being locked away for 9 months? Phelan found a great excuse for the house. He says he bought it from a mate cheaply and when it's fixed and sold, he'll be able to pay back the money to Jason for the apartment scam. Who knows if that's true. Probably not. And Andy? He just didn't want to make Phelan angry and he sounds very confused. I think his mind is starting to fall over the edge.

Phelan is making plans. He thinks he will let Andy go. But it isn't as simple as all that. I laughed when Phelan said he was tired of keeping Andy locked up. Poor Andy, it's far worse for him. He's taking Andy out of the country and insisting he stays there and if he contacts anyone he knows, he's a dead man. Phelan took Andy's photo for the passport pic. Doesn't that have to be done with regulation size etc? I don't know. The rules seem a bit dodgey and free wheeling to me. You wouldn't be able to take a photo like that and submit it here in Canada. And why on earth did he print them? They were HUGE. They won't fit on a passport. He pretended they were "before" photos of the house and got them officially printed and everything. Makes absolutely no sense in this day and age. Everyone usually leaves digital photos on the computer or prints them themselves for the most part.

Phelan is setting up his get out of town scheme, a few days' work in Inverness. He buttered Eileen up with the promise of a nice roast dinner, too. Nicola really believes in Seb and Faye but I think she'll be disappointed. I wonder if she does know about Seb's home life? She must. Anyway, Phelan goes to tell Andy the plan. He'll drive him to France to the Loire valley. Andy's just looking forward to seeing the sun again but Phelan seems to be teasing him with these grand plans. Phelan still isn't sure that Andy will not contact any authorities. Andy swears on his life.

Eileen wants to either live in the house when it's done or help him do it up, neither situation being very ideal, right? How's he going to work this? He will, though. He can put her off for awhile. And Nicola really seems to be warming up to Phelan as her father, too. She went to him when she was feeling down in the dumps after one of her clients got sent back to prison. She also got dumped by her boyfriend. She needed the hug he gave her.

Tim was well jealous of Kirk's mascot job with all the team perks! Funny stuff with Gemma telling Moira her boyfriend (husband?) was up to something if he was sending her flowers. There's still a lot of anger between Peter and Steve and Steve got barred again. Steve really resents Peter's takeover, so I guess he's having regrets, not just a few. Can Amy and Summer keep the hair disaster from Tracy? Remains to be seen. They engineer a sleepover until David can fix Amy's hair the next day but Tracy knows something's up and she rumbled it well and truly!

Sally couldn't even keep the reporter on track, she got sidetracked by the new Buzzer too! Well, at least Beth was proud of Kirk! Gina poked a stick at Sally, metaphorically, putting her on the spot about policies. She managed to bluff her way through it but there seems to be a grassroots campaign growing to get Kirk/Buzzer to run for mayor, too! The very idea is sending Sally into the indignant stratosphere.

Gemma tried to broach the memory subject with Rita but she was then able to remember a soap plot in detail. It comes and goes. Gemma has to have a difficult conversation with Rita about her memory. Norris might call it a senior moment but there are far too many of them happening. Still, Gemma can't quite find a way to bring up the subject. She did remind her several times that she had a doctor's appointment. Rita seemed preoccupied and she's even realizing that there's a problem. She can't remember making the appointment but in this case, Gemma made it for her and that was how she thought she could get Rita there. Liz and her big mouth let the cat out of the bag so Rita cancelled the appointment.

It kind of made things worse in one way but Rita wasn't angry. She did say that her blood pressure tablets had memory loss as a side effect. Is that possible? Rita's in a mood about the memory issue and Norris keeps badgering her about letting people help her. But she got so agitated she actually slapped Norris!! She admitted she lied about the medication and she's scared. She realized she had to see the doctor and Norris went with her but Rita wouldn't let him come in the office with her. The doctor even works on Sundays (this was a Sunday episode in the U K) But Rita couldn't bring herself to admit to the doctor what the real problem is, and said it was trouble sleeping. She was too scared to say anything which would make the problem even more real. She told Norris a load of lies.

Kate and Rana went to the Bistro after the pub and Kate met a blonde called Imogen. Rana was less than impressed. It was a bit rude of Kate to be all over a new woman which makes Rana feel like a third wheel but Rana was a bit over the top. She really did seem like she was jealous. Is there more to Rana than we know? And it seems that Kate certainly did hit it off with Imogen. They were at the cafe for breakfast the next morning, Alya and Luke chuckling but Rana looking sour. Her solution? Suggest that she and Zeedan take a few months off and drive the food van around the country, selling at events. Could be fun I suppose. They may even have a bit of savings to fall back on, they've probably been living rent free. But Robert wants them to wait a few months first.

Toyah is waiting to hear from the surrogacy agency. Having a child is still taking over her life. Meanwhile, the brewery is touting a new craft beer and the little ol' Rovers offered to have the big, bad launch party there. Like that would ever happen! But Peter isn't best pleased that Steve gossiped about him to the brewery. He ticked off Peter with his list of faults and got himself barred. Clash of appointments, though, the agency has someone that might be willing to be their surrogate and she's coming on ...you guessed it, Sunday!

Toyah is on pins, ready to meet the surrogate candidate, the future she's always wanted ready to open up before her. Guaranteeing it's going to go pear shaped, right? The brewery rep is milling around, getting under everyone's feet. Steve's in a snit because he's still barred and not taking Tim's worry over finding Faye very seriously. Later he decides to crash the party anyway, surly and on his way to getting drunk. Things get busy and a bit chaotic in the pub when a youngish woman comes in looking for Toyah or Peter, she's early, she says. Surrogate candidate, I says.

But Peter pretending to drink has brought out all the dirty laundry, thanks to Ken and Tracy who think he's about to drink and tell everyone he's an alcoholic. More and more dirty laundry come spilling out and the woman, Jackie, goes flying out the door after hearing all that. Toyah followed her and tried to talk her round. It all looks pretty grim from Jackie's point of view. She managed to get Jackie to hear them out while Leanne pulled Steve in to work behind the bar. They really poured on the honey to persuade her to get to know them better. To think it over, at least. That's better than an out and out No. In fact, she called back and said yes!

Robert has to go to court on the charges where he beat up Rich. He's worried and he wants everyone else to look after Michelle if he goes down. He doesn't want her in court either. Because she's so fragile you know. And emotional. And can she just get accidentally locked in a closet for a bit please? And there's Will on cue to comfort Michelle who's losing her mind with worry and biting everyone's head off. But Robert didn't get sent down, all he got was a slap on the wrist. Suspended sentence and community service. All is well so Will instigates by suggesting Rich might come after her again. Robert is able to soothe her fears so that didn't work as planned. He's rather a rubbish stalker isn't he?

But he's a very good instigator. He tipped off the police that there are drugs being dealt through the restaurant and somehow managed to plant some in the busy kitchen, how, I have no idea. Luck was on the Bistro's side, though, because Zeedan cut his finger and Michelle found the drugs, a bag of pills it looked like, in the first aid kit on the wall. They managed to get rid of it by putting it in the curry sauce, hoping the dogs couldn't smell it. It worked. Foiled again! But Michelle is taking matters into her own hands and goes after Rich herself and we're treated to more screaming and angst and then Robert shows up gunning for Rich. Will took the opportunity to call the police about "a disturbance", hoping Robert would lose control completely and get into trouble again, I guess.

Rich did say something that proves he didn't set up the drugs thing. He say something about accusing him of planting coke behind the bar. But it was pills. The police showed up and took him away again. Robert's back in the prison for busting his bail. Michelle's upset but it's her own fault, for charging off to go after Rich herself. Robert is starting to think Rich really is innocent and someone else is the guilty party. Robert picked up on Rich referring to coke behind the bar vs. the reality of pills in the kitchen. Good! But Robert thinks he was the target, not her. The guilty party has a handful of photos in a box and a framed one on his table. When Michelle gets back to the Bistro, she tells everyone that she and Robert have broken up. Will is first in line to hug her in consolation. He even offers to take her out but she puts him off. But it's all an act to keep her safe if someone's after Robert.

Little Jack turns 7 but Faye is more distracted by her phone, doesn't look like she's been able to get hold of Seb and then he texts and tells her to leave him alone. Something's going on here. He's hiding away from view in the builder's yard with a bruise on his face. Rosie advises Faye to fight for her man. She's a good big sister, isn't she? And fight she will. She finally got hold of him and he looked in rough shape. Not only does he have a facial injury but he was shaking. Fear? Cold? Anger? Something is definitely up with that lad.

He pretends he got in a fight but I don't believe him. He says he wants to be with her. She desperately wants him around and if she can't persuade her mother into letting them be together, she's going to take action. She got 60 pounds off her father for a class outing to a play with a letter that she probably wrote. She booked them a day out in Chester. He'll do it but needs to be back by 6. But she's packing an awful lot for a day out.

Faye and Seb head to the train station with him reminding her he has to be back at 6. Anna can't get hold of Faye. Faye left her phone home so she couldn't be contacted. Anna realized that Faye is probably with Seb and reckons Seb was the one that lured Faye away. She tackled Eileen and Phelan to get Seb's mobile number. Meanwhile, Faye and Seb have had some difficulty with the trains and it comes out, she was trying to get him to run away with her to Ireland! She broke his phone when Anna called and he still avoided telling her how he got a bruised face. Definitely something going on there. He finally admitted it was his step-father. He tells tales of a pretty bad home life, a step father that beats him so that his mother or twin siblings don't get his anger instead.

Seb is so desperate to get home, he steals someone's car keys and their car to get back. I don't know why they couldn't get it started but they didn't and Seb did a runner, leaving Faye to take the heat. Kevin and Tim picked her up back at the police station. Faye defended Seb and said running away was all her fault. Anna was out looking for the kids and spotted Seb and forced him to get in the car with her so she could give him an ear bashing and ordering him to stay away from Faye to which he agrees immediately. He just wants to get home so she drives him. Inside, his mother is nowhere to be seen. The twins, looking to be about 5 or 6, must have been alone. The house is a tip and Anna sees rubbish in the garden. It doesn't look very ideal.

Shona hasn't told David what she's done with the scratch card winnings. He probably won't approve. Yasmeen had to bring the Great Escapee dog back (that dog has adventure in his soul, I swear) after he'd been at the chicken coop. While they were at the door, a car pulls up with a rather bullish looking bloke in it. Who's that, then? I guess we'll find out sooner or later, meanwhile, David the dog is digging under the fence right under their noses to get free. This time, Yasmeen is confiscating the dog with which she later seems to be having difficulties when taking him out for walkies. That big bloke is still lurking around corners, too.
