Marcus is gay, always has been, always will be, says Charlie Condou who plays the smitten Mr Dent on Coronation Street. So what's the point of him kissing Maria? I'm not enjoying this storyline, in fact I think it might be my least favourite story on Corrie right now.
I like Marcus, a lot. In fact, I think we should meet his family and he should be given more of a background. Let us see him grow on the Street within the confines of the cobbles. Let him have some excitement, some drama. Kissing Maria in the kitchen isn't it.
If I had my way, and I know I don't but bear with me while I dream. I think Marcus should dump Aiden, meet another fella and fall in love and get wed, adopt kids. He should patch things up with Sean who could be the best man at Marcus' wedding.
But never mind what I think about Marcus and Maria - what's your take on it?

I agree with pretty much everything said here. I really like Marcus and think he deserves a better story line.
I agree. I was so irritated by the kiss. That does not happen. I don't know where they're going with that but it totally sends a message that being gay is something that you change or it's a choice or you can be swayed to like women IF the right woman came along.
It's careless.
I think Maria and Ryan together is lazy writing and proof they need some new blood on the street. They are so wrongly matched.
I don't think they're implying that someone that's gay can change. I think it's more about two people that unexpectedly find themselves attracted. This kind of situation *does* happen, not often but it does. It's very early in the storyline and I think they'll be sensitive with it. It may run for awhile but in the end, I think Marcus and Maria will realize they have a better friendship than anything else and back off. Marcus looked as shocked as Maria, more even. I have faith that this will be handled right.
