5 reasons why Peter Barlow could be baby Oli's dad...BUT...

1. TIMING
Leanne visited Peter in Portsmouth in June 2016 - and yes, this was 9 months before Oliver was born. You can read the episode synopsis here which says Leanne and Simon returned from Portsmouth week of 3 June 2016. So the timing is perfect.

2. DAD DNA
No DNA test has been done yet to determine who the father is. So, there's no proof that the baby is Steve's.

3. BABY BONANZA
Since Toyah returned to Coronation Street, she's been one-dimensional. Her character and storyline have been all about the IVF, about failing to get pregnant with Toby's child, and now about trying to have Peter's baby.  She even delivered baby Oli while stuck in the Victoria Court life. So, what if Toyah does eventually get pregnant with Peter's child AND it's proven that Oli is also Peter's?  Oh 'eck!

4. SISTERLY SOAP SHOCKER
The revealation would blow Toyah and Leanne apart and make for a great soap storyline.

5. PAPA PETER

Peter is a rubbish dad, we all know that. Simon knows it too.  Well, if Peter did turn out to be the dad to baby Oliver (and to Toyah's baby - see No. 3 above) he'd be the worst dad in the Street, with three children to prove it.

Of course, I might be completely and utterly wrong about it all.

I'll get me coat.

BUT....

Yesterday I posted my half-baked theory as to why I thought Peter Barlow could be the dad to baby Oli in Coronation Street.

A lot of Corrie fans agreed that it's possible, just, that Peter might be the dad to Leanne's baby. But also, some Corrie fans said they didn't think it could be Peter.

And one person who should know what's what also revealed that having Peter as the papa isn't likely to come true.   Yes, it was Corrie actor Jane Danson, who plays Leanne. She read our blog post and liked it.  She tweeted about it too, saying "This made me giggle. Anything is possible in soapworld! But I don't think it's on the cards."

Ah well.

And now I will, as I said in my original blog post...  get me coat.

Toyah is a completely one dimensional character, obsessed with having a baby. I was a viewer in the past when Toyah was in the show. I am so disappointed in her now. As someone who had fertility issues I found it completely unbelievable that woman going through that would be remotely interested in having an affair. I totally lost respect for Toyah. She is completely delusional if she thinks Peter is interested in having another child - he barely pays attention to the one he has, he is being raised by a woman is not even related to him. Nothing at all against the actress but I for one would not miss Toyah at all if she left. She and Peter have zero chemistry.

The NHL playoffs start on Wednesday 12 April, 2017, and there
should be an announcement on CBC's Coronation Street Facebook page soon.
