Who should open the new Rovers Return?

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog March 2013, reposted to this blog with permission.)

This blog post has been inspired by Corrie4ever on facebook and has their permission to use the same photo and question.  Cheers!

In 1986 Rovers Return landlady Bet Lynch asked Hilda Ogden, who had worked as pub cleaner for 22 years, if she would like to cut the ribbon to The Rovers and declare it open.  It had been refurbished and redecorated following the fire.

So, our question is: Who should reopen The Rovers Return this time after it's been done up and refurbished after the fire?  On Corrie4ever they've voted for Betty's son, Gordon Clegg.  What do you think?

Hilda should cut the ribbon once again. It would be great to see Jean Alexander return for even one scene to do the honours. Otherwise Ken, Emily, or Rita would be appropriate, or yes, Betty's Gordon would be a nice choice too.
