Roy's Bubblebeard

You've heard of Blackbeard and Bluebeard, the fierce pirates. Tonight we were introduced to Royston Bubblebeard! Or at least we would have been if CBC HADN'T EDITED IT OUT!!!!! (Maybe they'll put it back on Sunday).

Here's what you missed...

Sylvia, under the influence of herbal brownies was fascinated by the bubbles from the dish soap and decorated Roy's face, with Dennis thoroughly enjoying the spectacle.

I'm loving this storyline! Yes, it's cheesy and silly but isn't that gentle humour what we've been asking for? So what if something similar was done before? I don't care and it gives the older set something to do and something fun! I can't imagine how David Neilson managed to keep a straight, indeed, pinched face!

Yes, why is CBC editing scenes out??? I'm glad you mentioned this, as I thought I might be going crazy. I watch the show every evening from start to finish, yet when I read recaps (yes, I am a corrie geek), a scene will be mentioned that I never saw. Last example for me was hearing that Tommy Duckworth sang "We'll meet again" in honour of the burnt-out Rovers. I never saw that! And now this wonderful scene with Roy and Sylvia...chopped!!! Why CBC, why?

Simple! Advertising revenue. The CBC puts in extra ads, so we lose 2 or 3 minutes per episode. They usually make up some time on the Sunday omnibus, because they don't play the theme or the credits for each episode.

They also chopped out 15 minutes (including commercials) of a Dr. Who episode, just because it ran to 1 hour and 15 minutes, thank goodness Dr. Who went to the Space channel where they don't chop out any program or movie.

Thanks to the parts of the country that have extra ad revenue, while the rest of us get show promos rather than the parts of the show we want to be watching.

One more reason to enjoy the whole story on Sunday. Thanks CBC.
