Coronation Street denies unrest behind the scenes

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog November 2017, reposted to this blog with permission.)

The tabloids seem to have this annual "Chaos on the Cobbles" theory that comes around each autumn just before Christmas. And so it was no surprise to see the front page of one of the tabloids this week screaming that both Corrie and Enders were in trouble. Again.

The Star claimed this week that both soaps were in trouble after scripts were leaked and there was unrest behind the scenes.

The article quoted unnamed sources complaining about crew members threatening to walk out unless bosses addressed concerns over the new six-episode weeks and faulty equipment. Additional concerns over the crew having to work around the cast's availability during the busy Christmas period were also mentioned.

And now a Coronation Street spokesperson has hit back against the allegations. They told the Mirror: "We have not been made aware of any broken equipment or issues over scheduling. If anyone had such concerns we would expect to be made aware of it directly."

Such is the power of the soaps, eh, that they can still make front page headlines, even when there's nothing to report!
