Sunday Canadian Corrie Comments, October 16

John is wallowing in his guilt and depression and ends up breaking apart. As if poor Fiz doesn't have enough to worry about with the baby not well enough to be off the ventilator, he's now in hospital. Yes, that's where he needs to be but he's the author of his own discontent though Fiz has no idea. Here's a bit of Stape history up to this point, just to keep you up to speed. Then Nick actually pulled a bit of compassion out of the hat. He must have dug pretty deep for it. He's been spending so much time crawling around in the muck under a rock lately plotting to get Leanne back. It just gets worse for poor Fiz with the baby still poorly and the car on the flip.

Chesney and Kirk really put the guilts on Kevin to get the car fixed and Tyrone did it as a favour to get up Kevin's nose! :) I know money is tight but surely Fiz is on maternity benefits at the moment at least or as Katy said, benefits from Social Services. If she has to pack in the job to look after the baby, wouldn't that still come under mat leave for awhile? The factory bees had a whip round and Sally even felt bad and wanted to be the one to take the money over. She was very kind to Fiz too. And on top of all that, someone's sniffing around looking for Colin Fishwick again. Now what??!!

Nick didn't even look sorry that Peter took that first drink, did he? Ah but Ciaran caught him and he's highly suspicous of Nick, rightly so but Peter isn't. I don't think Nick would fare too well in a show down with Ciaran! Peter didn't fare too well either and now is back to lying to Leanne. And to himself. I just can't get over how awful and sneaky Nick is. And poor little Simon saw his dad passed out and was very upset about it all. Peter was horrified! Making Simon keep it a secret from Leanne doesn't bode well for him, though, you'd think that would be a sharp wakeup call.

He insisted Nick not allow him to weaken. Will he stick to it? Well he better get his butt to a meeting or two if he wants to stay clean because obviously even knowing Simon seeing him drinking didn't do the trick.
Eileen has problems with her roof and it nearly killed Rosie. Fair enough for her to be angry. But it wasn't really a good idea for Jason to thump the assessor whom he thought was peeking at Rosie through the window. If you ask me, he asked for it, not going to the front door to announce his arrival and if he lets that influence him to give a negative assessment, Eileen probably has cause to take that company to court.

Owen was unnecessarily rude as always when Eileen was trying to get him to have a look at her roof and then the assessment guy said it was neglect and not damage from the crash but i can't see how they can decide that if the house was only two over from the crash site with the house next door nearly down in flames. How could there not be residual damage from all that? So she's going to raise Sean's rent and actually charge Jason some. I'm surprised she's not made him pay before now with him earing a steady wage and all. And yes, anyone that lives there should contribute and that means Rosie too.

Well the roof's going to cost thousands and Eileen can't get it from the insurance so ... she crossed that line and pocketed the money Carla paid Owen for the factory repairs. And before you say, Eileen does own the house. She was going to buy Tyrone's and was approved for a mortgage so she bought her own instead because the owner was selling up. Steve sold the house years ago to help pay for Karen's expensive second wedding. Eileen packed in her job and wouldn't get it back because Lloyd gave it to Cheryl. Then she spouted off at everyone that lives there and she's in danger of being abandoned by them all. Well she made up with Sean and after putting the cheque in the bank, Owen comes around because he found out Carla paid her bill because Eileen reminded her. In gratitude, he's going to let her pay as and when and he'll fix her roof. Ooops? Is it too late?

Of course it is! Secrets never say secret and Owen of course is going to find out about the money before Eileen gets a chance to pay it back and is, as you would expect, pretty angry about it. In typical Owen fashion, though, instead of understanding and accepting the full payment back, he's bent on revenge and really was threatening, far more than necessary and Eileen is terrified until Julie reaches out and they formulate a plan for a Mexican stand off.

Laughed at them dressed for a stealth mission! All they were missing was night vision goggles. Eileen has copies of Owen's dodgey invoices and paperwork which will hold him off for a little while. And typical mysogenist, blames Eileen and accuses her of wanting revenge because he rejected her. It couldn't have anything to do with him threatening her, could it?  Meanwhile she's going to work packing knickers at the factory. Full time job, can't be worse wages than at Streetcars at least.

New customer at the factory, Frank Foster, who immediately had eyes for Michelle.

Ciaran  has found a fancy job on a cruise ship and he wants Michelle to go with him. What to do! What to do! In the meantime, Carla is throwing Michelle into the factory deep end with the new client because he fancies her and Carla figures Michelle will have better luck getting his business. That's pretty close to pimping if you ask me and Ciaran agreed! He's kind of slimy isn't he?  I think it was wrong of Carla to make Michelle go out with Frank on Ciaran's last night, especially when she has had absolutely no experience dealing with clients. I can't blame Ciaran for being put out but it was a bit of a hard spot for Michelle to be in. In the end, he asked her to go with him and she did. That's because the actress was going on maternity leave.

Singles night. All the women were hoping but Janice caught the eye of the van driver. No wonder, with most of her assets hanging out of her top. Not sure i'd be jetting off to somewhere with someone i met on a drunken night out. Janice managed to get lucky at the Rovers' singles night but then got very unlucky when her flat was burgled. She was supposed to be away but they wouldn't let her on the plane because she got drunk. She got home and surprised the burglar and got hurt. It was, of course, Chris' friend, Billy, and Chris was trying to set up Lloyd by pointing the police in Streetcars' direction. Janice, naturally, is not too bright nor too loyal to her friends and neighbours and she immediately thinks it's even possible. Good thing Cheryl and Lloyd weren't back at the office when she found the goods in the trunk of his cab!!!  Chris got exactly the rise out of Lloyd he wanted, too and Cheryl was quick to defend Chris as having no involvement until she heard his mate Billy was arrested. She knew then Chris was involved and it came back to bite Chris bad, she's divorcing him. Full Stop.

Gary's been busted on skipping his physio classes but that seems to fly right past him. He doesn't seem to be able to listen to anyone, not his mother or Izzy. He's very defensive and he isn't dealing with things well. It breaks my heart watching him go through this. He blames himself for Quinny's death. Izzy's right, talking to Quinny's parents would be the best thing for him and I think it was. He finally got it all out.

Now after all that, Eddie and Anna may be getting a girl to adopt, Faye. Chances are pretty good it won't be all hearts and flowers. That poor little mite has probably had a rough life. Now it looks like having Gary home might influence their chances to adopt.

Gary and Izzy are staying an item but Gary still has a lot of demons to battle. But Izzy is really good for Gary. Unfortunately he took something his mother said the wrong way and when he went out on the town with David, he kicked off again when they tried to put him in the van and he spent the night in the clink. (But when did David become drinking mates with Gary?)
Now it looks like he won't be be rejoining the regiment after getting into trouble and has to face letting his proud parents down. And boy does he let them down, Anna really went off the deep end. Frustration, worry, and she sees nothing in his future. Gary's back to kicking off all over the place too.

Cheryl doesn't have to go pole dancing anymore, Lloyd is letting her take Claire's job in the cab office. I laughed at Rosie watching the 3D movie with regular sunglasses. And of course Rosie made John's hospitalization all about here and Nick's slagging her off went right over her head. Tracy's home and Becky threw her unpopularity in her face, telling her half the street helped Claire get away. LOL! Tracy was surprised nobody on the Street had any sympathy for her and were all on Claire's side. I'm surprised she was surprised. Carla didn't keep a job for her either.

Sally's pulling out all the stops to prevent Kevin from selling the house. She left it a right mess and wait until you see what she does this time? Check it out Monday!

Did you recognize the investigator that was looking for Colin Fishwick? He used to play Peter Barlow in the 80s. I was hoping for a scene in the pub where the two of them looked at each other and shaking their heads, "Where do I know you from?" :)))))
