Sunday Comments December 9

Wow, could Kirsty have looked any smugger when she saw the fruits of her labours, Fiz screaming and bleeding! But everyone standing around not doing anything? I'm surprised at Sally at least, she'd be used to accidents what with Sophie falling off buildings and getting hit by cars and all that. It does make sense that Kirsty would not panic even if she hadn't caused the accident. She'd be used to emergency situations as a copper. Kirsty took Fiz to the emergency department. Kirsty was seething and Fiz slowly realized Kirsty caused the accident even though she didn't admit it.

I wonder how Tyrone managed to get away from Kirsty to go see Fiz? Kirsty thought Fiz would want Julie sacked. No. she's not like that. Fiz told Ches and Katie about her suspicions but it seems unbelievable for them. Fiz told Michelle and Rob as well but they don't believe it either and they're going to believe Fiz is a trouble maker. Fiz would be due some sort of compensation and should be signed off work for sick leave i would imagine. Rob had to tell them all that Fiz shouldn't have fixed her own machine after all, probably to cover his ass, and the investigation turned up nothing.

Tyrone refuses to believe Kirsty would do something like that so everyone seems to be against Fiz. Fiz is taking matters into her own hands and complained to the police. That put the fear into Kirsty but she managed to cover up well enough. If i was Kirsty, though, i would have admitted saying what Fiz claimed but explaining i didn't mean it that way. Tyrone blasted Fiz for going to the police but then cowered when Kirsty came looking for him and he had to hide in the kitchen. Luckily he overheard Kirsty admit to the deed and overheard her attack Fiz. And boy didn't Kirsty go psycho on Fiz! Excellent stuff from Natalie Gumede!

She locked Tyrone in the house first, then gave him the worst beating yet, just because Fiz called Tyrone and he is at the end of his rope. She's unrepentant this time. Part of me wants him to hit back except that you know Kirsty would use that against him too. Maybe if he called her by her father's name it might make her stop and think. But probably only temporarily. It seems like Tyrone is at the end of his rope. It really is hard to watch him cower and her telling him it's all his fault. Meanwhile, Fiz is still trying to help but Ches and Katy want her to stay out of it. She probably should only because of how Kirsty would take it out on Tyrone but how can you, really?

It's getting so painful watching Kirsty with Tyrone. It's almost unbearable to watch but it's so well acted that it's also riveting.  In the UK, after this episode, they've posted a phone number and website for other men in that situation (Mankind.co.uk). It might help someone watching.

Tommy believes Fiz, because he knows Kirsty. Fiz is determined to stop Kirsty one way or another even if the police were no  help. She told Tommy about the birth certificate issue which makes Tommy a bit more sympathetic, just in time for Tyrone to turn to him. Back at home, Tyrone looked at the painkillers like they were a solution but the baby's cry snapped that out of him and he formulated the plan to leave and turned to Tommy. Tommy was there for him as if nothing ever happened between them. But Tommy doesn't think Tyrone should be the one to leave. Ty's in a tough spot, though. He either gets beaten or Kirsty takes Ruby and disappears.

Leanne has some major sucking up to do but she came close to breaking up with him, probably because she reckons Nick won't have her after what she'd done. Simon was actually the one that made her see sense. She did admit she loves him and she probably does in some ways but he's not the love of her life like she is for him. So she managed to convince him she wants him by proposing and he managed to convince himself it was ok and say yes. Nobody else seemed too thrilled but Gail managed to put a brave face on it but Eva looks a right miseryguts.

Engagement news is spreading and Aw... i like that they had a little reminiscing scene between Leanne and Rita. Always nice when they toss in little bits of history like that considering how often the continuity fairy seems to be off duty these days. So we have an engagement party and I kept waiting for things to kick off but it didn't. Eva was scowling, Audrey had a smile pasted on, Gail barely managed to crack her face. Only Rita seemed genuinely pleased. The toast was half hearted and Lewis worked on Gail a little more.

Yet again, people have private conversations in a public place and then wonder why people keep interrupting them!

David and Marcus had a little bonding session in the cafe, chatting about families. We know that David wants more kids but it's evident Kylie isn't ready for it yet. I laughed at David being surprised that Marcus was all right. You'd think, working in the hairdressing world, he'd have encountered loads of gay men, many of whom were also "all right" lol!

Now David and Kylie have a new reason to row all the time, babies. Why on earth would he ask her about having another baby in the middle of the restaurant while she's busy at work? Terrible timing! David's marker moustache is slowly fading i see. Nick sticking his opinion in didn't help because we know how defensive David can be. Oh come on. We don't need anymore babies anyway. They're soon going to outnumber the adults! Gail seems to think Kylie should have a baby if she really loves David, or that's the idea i get from it. David came home drunk to a resentful Kylie but at least they talked and she finally agreed to have a baby with David. But she didn't look happy about it. Kylie may have said yes yes but her eyes are most definitely saying no kiddy lives inside me for a long while yet! David isn't wasting any time getting her up them stairs, either.

Kylie doesn't mind the extra sex, but the only problem is that David is stepping it up to try to get her pregnant. She's got a cunning plan, saddle David with two extra babies and hope that makes him realize how much work it's going to be.

Beth didn't end up having a great birthday. The shadow of Fiz's accident was cast over them and Kirk was still driving back from down south. She got drunk and made a show of herself. Wonderful little scenes with Beth and Sally in the pub! She did used to be a model, though, she wasn't lying about that.

Rob is become a real knob isn't he? He's a bit tough in the factory and then he smarms and flirts with everyone and everything. Jenna arrived in the Rovers to see her mother and Lloyd and Kevin was all over her trying to buy her drinks. Now, Mandy advised Lloyd that Jenna wouldn't fancy Kevin because she's dedicated to her career. In the tradition of soap law this could go one of two ways. Jenna and Kevin will end up together. But I reckon lightning won't strike twice and the odds of Kevin managing to seduce another 20-something young woman are astronomically off the scale. So the other direction could be the complete opposite and Jenna will end up being gay. Hmm. I'm pretty sure Kevin does fancy Jenna though, since he wasn't too eager to run into Sally's for a nightcap. He said Jack was away so I assume Bill and Pam have him for the night.

Dennis didn't know how to use the cash card and was embarassed to admit it. Me mam never knew you could pay for things with the same card you got money out of the wall. Now she never carries cash! Dennis was like a kid with a new toy and even tried to buy milk for 42p! Tina's getting morning sickness already, just one more reason for Tommy to sulk. Lewis faked a fall and Gail's very sympathetic. Now What *is* he up to?

I have to laugh at Sally. One minute she's saying Jenna isn't working Sophie hard enough or encouraging her enough and then she's saying Jenna works her too hard. Jenna and Sophie seem to be making friends and i suspect that Sophie is developing a crush on Jenna. Jenna seems to be finding excuses to see Sophie outside the hospital, too. Hmm... Sally doesn't seem pleased that Jenna is giving Sophie rides. I think Sally resents anyone that does anything for her kids that she can't. Oh and I think Sophie would be able to manage a lot better on those crutches without Sally and Kevin hanging on to her arms!

I wonder if they're trying to make Eva the new Raquel Wolstenhulme with this sexy dressing and frippery in her hair all the time! Well the bow was a washout, quite literally when the ceiling came crashing down and flooding her and Stella. I bet that was a laugh to film though they wouldn't have too many chances to get it right. Stella had Jason look at it and moaned about the price but surely insurance would cover it? Owen treats Jason like a skivvy but it looks like Jason wants more. Too bad Owen doesn't think to teach Jason a few tips and tricks about pricing jobs but the problem is, Jason is honest and Owen overcharges. That is the real issue. Instead, he insulted Jason and bullied him as usual.

Jason's keen to start on Stella's bathroom job, wanting to do a good job but it was behind Owen's back which is why he was there early and that's going to bite him. He was late for work and all. Owen went off the deep end when he found out Jason is doing it and half the price. At least Jason quit before Owen could sack him. Does Jason have the confidence? We'll see. Owen tried to steal Jason's tools. Childish, much? That's theft and I'd have the cops on him.
