Luke's dead! We reveal Dean Fagan's next acting role

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog January 2018, reposted to this blog with permission.)

Dean Fagan, whose character Luke Britton was killed off in tonight's Coronation Street, will be joining a new play in Manchester next month.

The play is called D'Eon and it premieres at the Hope Mill Theatre in February 2018.

Dean will play the role of  Beaumarchais in the play that includes celebrity, intrigue and scandal aplenty.

D’Eon is the bizarre and amazing true story of one of the most infamous, outrageous, unsung warriors of history and the first openly documented transgendered person in European history.

The play runs for one week from February 13-17 2018.

I think this was another spoiler. Things seem to be running a day or two ahead here. :(

Yes, I'm sorry about that.

I am really pissed that this was posted ahead of being aired. This shouldn't be allowed to happen and it was a major spoiler. I'm so pissed that I might abandon this blog now. Watching the episode knowing what would happen tool all the enjoyment and the shock factor away.

I'm only human, man, I make mistakes.

Don't we all. But this was a major spoiler. Could there not have been a spoiler warning in the heading? Or some checking that the episode had actually aired? I have enjoyed reading this blog and I was mad that this article (and the one before) just appeared out of nowhere. Rant over.

You are certainly entitled to be angry, I don't blame you one bit. I am generally pretty accurate matching the CBC air dates to the UK episodes. I make it a policy to always warn for spoilers and rarely release news of an upcoming one unless it's unavoidable.

For Instance, in 2010 I spoiled that there would be a tram crash and there would be deaths. It was all over even the Canadian media so it seemed pointless to try to hide it. I also spoiled that Julie Hesmondhalgh was leaving the show as Hayley because that, too, was also in our media and when a beloved cast member dies in real life, such as Anne Kirkbride who played Dierdre, that must be spoiled because it would be disrespectful to the late actor to ignore their death and all the contributions they've made.

My point is that I carefully consider before spoiling. I don't reproduce Coronation Street Blog posts if I can't edit out a few sentences without changing the meaning and I don't reproduce the spoiler articles posted there. I try very hard to make sure the blog posts for the Canadian episodes match up properly. I thought these were synced. I apologize again for my mistake.

… I am rather disheartened by the tone and tenor of the posts by Anonymous [above] … and I encourage a modicum of perspective here.
… it is evident that this blog is a labour of love for Tvor … and I, for one, am most appreciative of her efforts on our behalf.
… mistakes happen … and in the scheme of things … this is but a blip on a screen.
… let’s move on, shall we?

I would just like to point out that I posted the first comment about this being a spoiler, but I did not post the rant that followed. Two separate Anonymous posts. I agree it's disappointing to read a spoiler but in the big scheme of things it was one day.

I agree it's disappointing to read a spoiler but in the big scheme of things it was one day. Edited to add: I used to have a login account for this page but can't remember my password or screen name. I'll have to figure it out again. I don't want to be confused with another angry poster.
