What do you think of Nick's new-look Bistro?

(This post was originally posted by Flaming Nora on the Coronation Street Blog January 2015, reposted to this blog with permission.)

It's distressed, dark and dungeon-like. There are cactus plants on every table and on the bar too. So what does that say about the new-look Nick's Bistro?  Spiky and dangerous, or just a bit naff?

Along with the slogans for life emblazoned on chalkboards around the place and some very odd props, there's also municipal baths tiling and industrial lights.

Does it all work for Coronation Street? Is it right for Nick's Bistro?  What are your thoughts on the new-look Nick's?

It is soooo ugly, dim and depressing. It will be difficult to watch scenes in that mess.

Something a little more upscale and with lighter decor would have been much better!

I agree a step backwards. The new scenes all seem flat and one dimensional and you don't notice the activity of other diners in the background - maybe that is what they wanted? In any case, it no longer looks upscale.

But, at least it want a makeover that didn't look ny different like the Rovers rebuild after the fire - so I give them credit on that aspect!

The object of a bistro is to make customers feel like the food and the atmosphere/ambience is like home, only a little better. This remodel now feels like a salvaged shipwreck, not conducive to pleasurable dining at all!

The light shades look dangerous, like they are ready to fall off. Cactus on the table? How welcoming! Said no one ever.

It looks like an unfinished barn. What were the set decorators thinking??
