Sunday Comments November 3

Roy tried to break the surprise to Hayley but everyone else got in the way. Just when you're so anxious to tell, too! Aww, wasn't Hayley pleased when he finally told her and didn't Jane look a bit sad. Maybe her husband isn't the romantic sort. Roy still isn't driving too well but practice makes perfect!

Blackpool was bittersweet. Roy built an itinerary but had a moment of panic when it blew away! But he fullfilled Hayley's every whim and dream including a dance on the beautiful ballroom floor. It was pure gold, wasn't it? Roy applying physics to the toy select machine; Roy wading in the freezing water; Losing his rag over the ballroom being closed; The conversation about the tide, full of meaning; Grumpy Roy at the fortune teller; But you know, the fortune teller did draw the Death card and realized what was going on and wasn't it lovely? She arranged for the ballroom to be opened for Hayley. Looks like the manager is her son!

It all turned around so fast. One day, Roy and Hayley were loved up in Blackpool and by the end of the next day, they were split apart over a big, big disagreement. See, Hayley's friend Jane is now nearing the end of her life and she realizes that she wants to control her own end. Roy violently disagrees with her plan to end her own life. It's a tough thing to accept.

Hayley put on a cheery face for Jane, difficult as it was, but Roy was horrified, knowing of course, that will be Hayley before long. With the idea that Jane was reliving past memories, it put a shiver up Hayley's back. She sure wouldn't want to relive some of hers and that's part of what contributed to her decision. He keeps avoiding talking to her about her limited future. He knows it's coming and he's not exactly sticking his head in the sand but he just can't handle it. She finally managed to sit him down but she really took the feet out from under him when she said she intended on ending her own life when things become too much.

Roy escaped when Fiz and Tyrone arrived but really, now he needs to process it but he just couldn't. Not yet. I can understand his point of view but hers too. There was some really powerful scenes there.  Will it come to showing her on screen doing something to meet her maker? I guess time will tell. Part of me thinks that though they have brought up this topic, it won't come to that at her end.

The Christening was kind of sad too, watching a marraige blow up. But satisfying as well, seeing David having to answer for his dirty deeds. Kylie seems to be appeased for the time being about Tina. How long did that last? Not long. I guess they were going to take the dvds and watch them at Eva's house. And Kylie found the letter. It's good news in one way. At least she knows it's David's baby but she also knows he discovered her fling. Nick tried to make excuses about David but Kylie is still suspicious and David burned the letter, but it's too late to herd those cats back into the bag.

Kylie realized the letter had been with David at the hospital and since she knows what was in it, and she realizes that Tina knows everything.  David knows about the fling. Nick admitted it to protect Leanne and revealed to her David's vengeance. What a shock for Kylie to find out her husband is capable of something like that! Since very few ceremonies on Coronation Street go smoothly, it was a given that the christening not end well.  Even the vicar looked as interested in the goings on as Norris!

The truth is now out there, the affair and David's hate campaign and the accident. David's whole family is against him now and rightly so. He tried to kill the golden boy! Gail's words were pretty harsh and only proved David's point about being second best (her wishing she had had the abortion, threatening the police) Kylie wants nothing to do with him and also, rightly so. You can well imagine how shocked Kylie must be finding out about what David had done. Everyone else too.

David glosses over the situation to Maria making it sound like he left Kylie. Meanwhile, gossip is all over the Street probably thanks to Norris. Audrey is borderline sympathetic but she won't accept that David blames Nick for nearly wrecking his life. She threw David out and fired him though you could see it was difficult for her. He's at rock bottom now with nothing to lose. Nice little scene by the canal when he was talking to Roy, baring his soul. But I do hope he and Kylie find their way back to each other in the end because they really do work well together but I also do hope she makes him suffer first!

It always amazes me to see some of the guests at these things, christenings and weddings. I can understand Sally and Maria being there. But Norris and Mary? And who were all those strangers behind them all at the church? Buffet scavengers? The Vicar was kind to David at least. I guess David injuring himself on a brick wall was better than him putting his fist through the Kabin window.

Eva's not too happy with Kylie, either and Leanne is now in London with Toyah. Needing space, as you would. She'll probably forgive Nick but if Kylie forgives David, it won't be for a very long time. Gail may also eventually forgive David as it's her child but that isn't going to come easy and she'll never forget either. Meanwhile he needs a place to stay. Maybe he can bunk in with Roy!

It's hard for Leanne not to fuss over Nick, after what he's been through but it's got to be equally hard on Nick, needing so much help still but wanting to be indepenedent. I bet she won't be fussing over him now! She knows she's partly to blame but he lied to her when she confronted him directly months ago and continued to lie.

Nick is going to be difficult, you can tell, with that quick temper. Tina is still wearing that ratty old army jacket.

Dennis and Rita's ideas of holidays are vastly different. Rita has no spirit of adventure and Dennis would love the open road. I suppose at their age, it's probably less of an adventure. A cruise it is. What a coincidence, Dennis gets a big back tax bill and he's got Rita's antique engagement ring in his pocket (it was his mother's, remember?). He told Gloria he wouldn't go to Rita, I was waiting for him to ask Gloria for a loan! Dennis's solution to his debt is to pawn Rita's engagement ring (which was Elsie's). Oh is that going to blow up in his face! It was pretty stupid doing it right under Rita's nose to someone like Tracy Barlow. Contrived plot device.

Liz gets to connect with old aquaintances and pushed a little crack into Anna and Owen referring to when he had Jim beaten up when he was dating Liz. On top of his recent strong arm tactics, that's only going to add to the strain.

Michelle isn't pleased with Steve. As per usual. At least she and Liz are in agreement about Steve being an idiot. Steve's heart is in the right place though. Life at the pub isn't starting off at the best. Michelle and Liz are still slagging off Steve and Barry is stomping around throwing his wedding ring out of his pram. Michelle is still suspicious of what happened between her parents. It was only a matter of time, and not much of it at that, that sees Barry chatting up Liz but she gave him a firm knockback.

Michelle is still trying to find out what her father has done and her father is determined to play the innocent. Ah but she sussed it. This divorce is over Mother finding Daddy in bed with another woman, the one woman her mother hates and it was more than a vague flirty look. Sounds very much like he's got a habit of infidelity.

I guess I just imagined it,but I thought Eva found out about Kiley and Nick a few months ago. Kiley was feeling guilty and ended up sharing with Eva, or allowing her to guess some things anyway. So I was really surprised...that Eva was surprised. Am I totally off beam here?

I think Kylie admitted to a one night stand but not the identity.
