It's the question on the lips of the nation - well, maybe a few Corrie fans. Could it be magic between two of the youngest characters on the show? A flick through the history books shows that young love has never been a roaring success on t'cobbles. Indeed, there don't seem to be too many examples.
Back in the 1960s, Dickie Fleming and Audrey Bright set up home at number 3. However, the teenage romance flickered and died thanks to the interference of one Ray Langton. A decade later there was some half-hearted plot involving Elsie Tanner's Brummie (and previously unmentioned) grandson Martin and a girl called Karen. Nothing came of that. Perhaps most memorably though, viewers had to endure the 1990s toxic paring of Nick Tilsley (version 2) and Leanne Battersby (unpleasant version). They married in haste and as recent events have shown, repented at leisure on various occasions since.
Ches and Katy are, to date, two likeable characters who seem pretty sure where their future lies. Will the storyliners let their joy continue or will a big black cloud roll in to darken their doorstep?
