Corrie character name changes

A long-forgotten memory was recalled thanks to Flaming Nora and the reminder that "our Nicky" was originally going to be called Daniel.

Which got me thinking . . . surely other Corrie characters had alternative (printable) names?  Only last week we learned that poor old Leanne might have been Betty Battersby had it not been for intervention of Stella! Going even further back I recall a hoo-hah back in 1977 when Tracey-luv was almost burdened with the moniker Lynette Langton. Betty Battersby and Lynette Langton - sounds like a third-rate Eurovision act!

The only other example that readily springs to mind was back in the 1960s when Irma Ogden was exposed as having the perhaps less enticing name of Freda. Was she named after the tortoise on 'Blue Peter'?
