Julie Hesmondhalgh in Blindsided
Gone are the red anorak and brown wig.  Just a week after we saw Hayley's final scenes on Coronation Street, Julie Hesmondhalgh took to the stage for her new role - cheered on by a host of her former Corrie cast members.

Julie is now starring in the world premiere production of Blindsided at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.

The Manchester Evening News has a review of the play and a gallery of pictures of Corrie cast members who turned out to see Julie in the play last night.

Rebecca Callard, the daughter of Bev Callard, who plays Corrie's Liz McDonald, is also starring alongside Julie in Blindsided.

Am sorry to say that the long time-delay between "Deidre's" death in real life and Corrie St. addressing it, has sadly stunted any real emotion and no matter how valiantly the cast portrays their sadness, everything falls flat! Have no idea whose decision it was to wait so long before factoring in the death of Deirdre, but in my opinion it was a huge mistake! I grew tired of the facile ploys in the story line to reintroduce Deidre back into the plot line.
A gross error!
