There's an excellent interview with Coronation Street's Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, in today's Mirror.
Simon talks about battling his depression and thankfully he says that he's now the happiest he’s ever been. He says: “I had to pinch myself the other day, a beautiful wife and three beautiful kids who are hilarious. Then you have everything else on top, I was like ‘wow’, life’s alright. I’m more healthy in my 40’s than I’ve ever been in my life, there’s many reasons for that which we won’t go into."
He also reveals that the sound guys on the show play pranks on the actors.
"I was dared once to get from the Rovers to behind the bar making a stupid noise and I did. It went out! They’re buggers they are. They drop their trousers as well. You’ve got a serious scene and your leading actress is crying and your mates are in the background with their trousers around their ankles.
"My friends are in the sound department and there’s always the occasional bet, ‘bet you can’t say this or that’, yes, we get away with more than we should but people seem to like to so it works.”
And he also said he would like to try his hand as a stand up comedian in the future.
