Sunday Canadian Corrie Comments, Aprili 1

It snowed in Weatherfield for Christmas! Ken insisted on buying old fashioned toys for the kids, both of them hugely unimpressed. Becky didn't leave town after all and even bonded a bit more with Kylie. Steve had a pretty great Christmas present for Tracy! A house and an engagement ring! Kylie made Christmas dinner all on her own and she did really well too!

Steve is selling the pub and Karl and Eva want to buy it! Carla and Michelle appear to be having a girly Christmas day but Carla and Peter are making plans to steal a few hours away. The Platts actually had a more or less peaceful Christmas instead of the rows and upset they usually have. Well, except for Becky's flaming crisis. Literally. Christmas dinner in the cafe seemed nice, even if Norris could still find something to complain about. (no nibbles)

Christmas at the Websters seemed to go ok, too, and even Kevin was invited since he was pretty much expected to show up and play the pity party card. Eileen's Christmas was sad and lonely (How did she manage to get the bird stuffed and trussed when it was frozen?) The Windass Battersby Armstrong clan celebrated Christmas with a new baby and there's definitely a spark still there between Izzy and Gary. Faye made sure they had the chance to spend some time and Will could tell he wasn't in the running.

Peter's taken the plunge and starting off in super-selfish mode. He could have sent a text/lie so everyone else wouldn't worry at least. All night and all day just so they can pretend they've got nobody else to answer to. The two of them just gag me with their silly loved up banter. I keep seeing little Simon's face! Peter, like most married men having affairs, makes Carla promises he can't keep. You knew he wasn't going to walk out on Leanne straight away. Where would the storyline be with that? You could see him wavering when he was looking at the photos on the wall, even before Leanne came home.

It's pretty bad when an 8 year old asks if Daddy has been drinking again when he disappears.

Then it was lie after lie. He did say they should split up but it was because of the booze, not Carla and then went on the offensive. Classic move, putting the blame on her for nagging and pressuring him. Trying to make her leave so he won't have to be the bad guy. So he's staying with Leanne for now and Carla, after a bit of "hows your father" has decided she'll take what she can get. And now that she knows that the court case could probe very deeply and her having an affair with Peter and him leaving his wife for her will most probably go against her. Even more reason to keep it secret. You know, I do like the character of Peter but this week i could have cheerfully smacked his lips off.

Stella now has suspicions. She found a necklace that she assumed was Leanne's Christmas pressie but that's not what Peter bought Leanne, it was a mobile phone. Hmmm... who was the necklace for? Karl's explanation sounded good but of course we know Carla received it and is pretending she bought it for herself.
Ok, Lloyd hits the wall, he wants to sell up, Becky has money. You could have guessed that was coming. Becky probably thinks it's something for her future but surely somewhere in a corner of her mind she's hoping it puts her a bit closer to Steve again. Laughed at Steve begging Lloyd not to go! Steve doesn't like it one bit especially when she drums up a potential new contract for the company with a very dishy guy, Danny Stratton That Steve very nearly wrecked! I can't blame Danny for being reluctant to get involved with the Bickersons but he SO fancies Becky!!

Tracy was insanely jealous, reckoning that Becky and Steve were at it like knives and with all the stress, ranting through the hotel looking for them, she ended up miscarrying the twins! Thing is, they very nearly did get a room in the hotel. I don't understand thought, they were standing about 10 feet from Danny's office, couldn't they hear Tracy wailing? Actually, we know Tracy's medical condition from the kidney transplant made it harder for her to get pregnant (expect for Steve's super swimmers), I wonder if that could have contributed to the miss.

The miscarraige is very sad but Tracy's up to her old tricks. No surprise there. She assumed Steve was with Becky all night and wouldn't be told otherwise. All Karl had to do was tell her Steve was sleeping. But she wasted no time confronting Becky and then felt faint and fell down the stairs. Every cloud has a silver lining if you're Tracy Barlow and she told a big fat lie that Becky pushed her and is emotionally blackmailing her mother lie for her to corroborate it and Deirdre is falling for it yet again. It should be suspicious that Tracy didn't want the police involved, too.

Now everyone knows Becky and Tracy hate each other, but do you really think they'd all believe she'd do it on purpose? Especially Steve? . I just can't get my head around that. Tracy... proven liar. Becky? She's a loose cannon and she does lash out at people but Steve at least should know that she'd never do anything to cause a miscarraige. That's the ultimate betrayal i would think. That is what really broke Becky, Steve believing she could do it and she was ready to do a runner but Kylie and even the rest of the Platts including Gail and Audrey are supporting her with all she's worth. Yet again Roy came through for her in spades but Hayley had a glimmer of doubt about Becky and unfortunately when she accidentally pushed Hayley it only made matters worse. How much heartbreak can Becky take?

But the business partnership is not going to do what she wants and Steve decides to sell up the pub and buy Lloyd's house for him, Tracy and Amy and even proposes on Christmas Day. Becky's over heard that and her heart breaks all over again.
Didn't you like Becky having Christmas with the Platts? It looks like she and Kylie have finally made peace and are really becoming sisters. Chesney is selling Christmas trees in a job lot and they all lost all their needles! He's had to do some fast footwork and has had to dress up like an elf. At least he and Gary both had to! But because of that, he wasn't handy when Katy went into labour while playing Mary at the school nativity but he got there in time! Awww wee baby Joseph! Now life *really* starts to get hard!

Gary's jealous of Izzy's friend Will who can see that Izzy and Gary still love each other. Nice guy. He backed off. Faye was awarded the Mary role in the school play and is super-confident. Guarantees that she'd get the colly wobbles on the night of the performance. Luckily, Katy had done it in school, too and jumped in to take over. A real pregnant Mary and she gave birth in the manger! And all of those mothers in the audience and NONE of them figured out Katy was in labour until she nearly collapsed? And Chesney and Gary had to race there on a bicycle, dressed as elves. Why was it that Gary made Ches do the pedalling when they were two on the one bike? Gary is most likely a lot fitter and stronger. True soap fashion, they made it just in time to see the baby born!

Owen and David feuding like 12 year olds. I'm telling you it's a far cry from Des playing tricks on Derek Wilton. Getting the Christmas trees dumped on David's doorstep? (Ok, that *was* kind of funny) Letting the air out of Owen's tires? Owen insulting them to the Social worker? Pah! Fish gone and pond filled in, dug out and re-fished again. Water turned off in the Salon. (that's going a bit too far!) Stealing Owen's electricity. Grumpy Guts Gail's back! Kylie's planning to cook Christmas dinner. I didn't even think she could manage toast!

Lloyd and Stella are trying to avoid each other after the clumsy pass. It's not that big a deal. How come soap characters make such a meal out of something like that? It's bound to blow up in their faces and indeed it did. That was the last straw and we say goodbye to Lloyd (but he'll be back, the actor's off filming a new Red Dwarf series) (How did Norris know something was going to happen between Lloyd, Karl and Stella? there was absolutely no hint or prior knowledge in Norris' part. But then again, he has a suspicious nature anyway. Have I mentioned lately that i really don't like Norris?)

Eileen can't seem to let go of Paul. She invited he and Lesley for Christmas, much to Jason's contempt. Maybe she figured if Jason met Paul and Lesley as a couple it would help. I don't think so. Paul can't stay away from her either. Maybe if he could, it wouldn't encourage her so much. It really is a lose lose situation, that relationship. Julie donated the money to buy their Christmas dinner to a charity and Brian's face is in a major knot. Don't deprive that man of his food! So why didn't Eileen have them over after Paul couldn't come with Lesley? They were sitting right there, she could have invited them t hen rather than sit alone all day dressing the raw turkey. And not in a good way.

Carla's drafting an add for a new machinist. What about Fiz?? speaking of which, Kirsty was vile to Fiz when she saw Tyrone fixing the buggy! She was bitchy to Tina too but she did pull a blinder when she did up the artificial tree after the bald one had to be chucked out.

Ooh Tyrone remembered it was Hope's birthday last week! Nobody else mentioned it! Lloyd said "Facebook!" They usually call it something else to avoid the copyright thing. Rita and Emily are in a Christmas dinner war. A cook off is in order. How many people do you know can shop for all the trimmings, cook a full turkey dinner and be ready to serve it in less than 5 hours? I don't know. Rita never seemed the domestic type to me but she reckoned she was *really* the winner on the say so of the best roasties (potatoes). And as honest as Hayley is, she probably knew darn well that it was more politic to declare a tie and invite them all to the cafe for their meal instead!

The Wedding of the Year is impending but Sian isn't so happy. Their old pastor won't do the service. She's surprised? After all the preaching at them he did? Sian found a replacement vicar willing to do it in church but even that didn't please Sophie. Can you say Cold Feet? Doubts??? Sophie's really angry that Sian asked Amber to be a bridesmaid.
